Hi all,

Wondered if anybody fancies a ground up rebuilt 1997 BMW K1100LT SE.

Here's the rebuild library : -

Asking £1795. UK bike located in UK.

60 k miles, 3 months tax, 4 mths MOT. Full original BMW luggage, original keys, electric screen works, ABS works, radio works but not fitted.

Too big and heavy a lump for me, 240 kg fuelled. No heated grip or hazard switches fitted. Smoky on start up, clears after a run. Rebuilder told me it was running rich. Probably needs new air filter and injector clean and balance. Been quoted £250 by a well known independent to do this and switches.

Good luck with the sale. 240Kg I think is a bit light though - my RS weighs in at 280Kg fueled and with panniers. I would guess an LT is closer to 290Kg. Maybe you are stronger than you think.

A couple of people have already enquired one of whom had a German e mail address and a French name. He offered to send a bankers draft and his shipping agent to collect the bike on behalf of his client.Immediately suspicious I rang MCN to ask if this was a familiar story. Yes was the answer. It works like this. They send a cheque for more than the asking price. It clears in to your account. The agent turns up and you give him the excess cash and the bike. A couple of days later the police turn up to ask why you have been banking stolen checks. You are out for the money and the bike.
