Up for sale is my Schuberth Concept. This helmet is in excellent shape. It has never been in a crash or dropped. As you can see it shows almost no wear. The only place with wear is on the bottom as you see in the picture. The surface layer of the fabric is rubbed off. This also has a removable breath guard that you see in the pictures. Venting is excellent and you can pop the visor up a little for venting or pull it forward which allows a little air in from the sides for defogging but does not freeze your face.

The size is an XL 60-61cm,7 5/8 or 24in. The sizes run a little small. I don't have a large head but it fits in this fine.
My C2 is a large, 59cm 7 3/8 and it also fits fine.

Rich - VERY interested, how old is the helmet? I wear a Scorpion EXO-700 in XL that fits beautifully but would love a modular to replace my 10+ year old Duo-Tec Smile

Hey Ted,

It is a 2001 but is in great shape. I don't understand why the manufactures say that after a certain amount of time you should get rid of a helmet. The foam inside will last forever in a landfill and as long as it is not crushed in an accident it will still work and the shells are pretty impervious to age.

You are incorrect. While the foam may exist forever over time it hardens and loses all the benefit of having it. After five years helmets are wonderful decorations or doorstops, but absolutely do not put one on your head expecting it to do what it is made to do. Want proof? Most racing organizations will not let you use a helmet which is too old, and neither will most track days.

I also have to disagree. If the foam EPS is exposed to direct UV that would be the case but being inside the helmet shell it doesn't get exposed and does not have the tendency to dry out like other plastics. Over time other material may degrade which is why you should inspect it just like you do with your bike but the EPS has a longer life span than 5 years if not physically damaged.

The five year limit is put out there by the helmet manufactures and SNELL. If I were the manufacturer I would want you buying a $300 helmet every five years instead of every 10 or 15.

The inner padding will go way before the foam and that is what will make the helmet loosen up over time and that can be replaced. You should always do an inspection of your helmet before you put it on just like you should do with your bike. I have had a helmet fail after three months because of bad workmanship and I have had others that are ten years old like this one that are still in great shape.

And yes I have been in a couple of accidents where the first thing to hit the ground was my head. One of which was with a 12 year old helmet and it worked as intended. Which is why I always wear a helmet. Always have and always will.
