|
|
Starting to work on throttle body adjustments; am awaiting delivery of a Carbtune unit.
Real.oem lists the "protection cap"covering the tube to which a synching device is attached to the throttle bodies at $1.20; since I'll probably need at least a dozen (3 K11s and a K75) I was wondering if there was a generic car part available at someplace like Autozone that would be cheaper.
Alternatively, I could buy a short length of hose, seal the end with silicone and live with ugly.
Not a major issue. Thanks.

Don't know about the US, but at our el cheapo auto parts stores in OZ, they have packs of them in different sizes for only a few bucks. I always have some spares in the cupboard _________________ K1100RS '97

I was going to say that there's nothing special about them. Just a rubber vac line cap. _________________ Ride safe.

Drikko and Scott: thanks for the quick responses. One last question--what's the OD of the vacuum tube over which these caps fit?
I've found that the "parts guys" at our local chain parts stores need as much info as I can give them.
Thanks again.

Well I'm sure there is a metric value for them but I would put them in the 1/8" to 3/32" range. _________________ Ride safe.

Just to close out this issue: purchased a package of 3/16" caps at the local OReilly autoparts store; they fit.
Strange pricing pattern: a package of two 5/32' caps cost the same as this package of 5 3/16" ($2.29). The 5/32 caps would then have been as expensive as the BMW part ($1.20 ea). Go figure.
Thanks for the help

Good on the twins... I have used em.
Don't know how fiddly it would be on a K...
But a manometer is a manometer.
All the best |

I tried a home-made one(4 tube with anti-freeze solution) and I have to admit that I like the carbtune better. _________________ Ride safe.
