Hi there,
Any body knows what kind of product is this blue adhesive you find on the adjuster screws of the "butterflies" and TPS?

Must be something more than a paint. I think it is kind of “thread locker” that assures and marks the final position of the adjusting screws after the registration of them. The problem is that thread lockers are “anaerobic” so they cure in absence of O2.
I remember to use, in the old days, woman’s nail paint for this purpose.

It is paint and not thread locker. I have removed the paint and adjusted the screws on the TB. the paint does not go into the threads at all and just sits on top of the threads which indicates that it was put on after the screws were put in. The paint is there for three reasons. First it shows that when the bike was initially assembled that these have been adjusted. It is like the paint you see on the bolts which indicate that they have been torqued. Second so the service guys can tell whether they have been played with and third to help hold the screws though the screws do not move easily with vibration.

I agree with you 100%.I named the paint as “thread locker” just to give an idea of what I am speaking about.
What is important for me is the 3rd reason you say: hold the screws though the screws do not move easily with vibration. So any kind of paint can do the job or there is something special product for this ? And ,if you know ,what could be this?
PS.Please forgive my poor English

No problem with your english, it's better than mine. When I did my throttle bodies 25,000 miles ago I used enamel model paint, pactra or testors. I haven't had a problem since.

It is called anti-tamper paint. I have a tube of it at work but I am not sure where I got it.

I just looked up anti-tamper paint and it looks like it is just a lacquer paint. Some sites call it anti-sabotage paint

The locknut is what holds it in place, not the "paint."

That’s true Duck, but maybe the anti-sabotage paint helps also the locknut to stay in place. There are some vibrations around.

Gday All
On my K1100 it's the BMW equivalent of a product called "inspectors torque seal" available at any Aviall outlet in the world. It's purely a visual aid to completing assembly , no locking function at all. Like the Duck says the lock-nut does that.

Interesting... We ship all kinds of hazardous materials around the globe - things much worse than a little tube of paint. Wonder if I could order it and send it to you as motorcycle parts or accessories... Might work.

All this does is let you know if someone's moved the thread since it left the factory, same effect as the seal on a box of chocolates lets you know the shelf stackers haven't helped themselves to your chocs. Why bother buying it?
