|
|
...on my K75S Paralever. S-M-O-O-T-H.....
I started with a 24,000 mile K75 engine and clutch sitting on blocks of wood in my basement:
31:11 paralever final drive with low mile K1100 shock
New paint job - Acura NSX "Formula Red" (doesn't look as orange in real life)
Front and rear fender extenders
All visible hardware replaced with stainless
Perforated stainless radiator and belly pan grills
24k forks disassembled, cleaned out and upgraded with Progressive springs
Fork boots
Braided stainless brake line
Upgraded headlight wiring and realays - 90/100W Xenon H4 bulb
Front turn signals doulble as LED running lights
PIAA fog lights for daytime conspicuity
I fabricated an aluminum throttlebody cover plate and had it powder coated
Headers ceramic coated in "chrome" finish
REAL cruise control
Flush mounted rear LED running lights/turn signals
Chrome license plate frame
OEM chromed tail rack
Newly recovered Corbin Dual Sport Seat
Chrome powder coated gas cap
K1100RS handlebars with chrome bar ends
Added BMW fuel gauge on left fairing panel
All instrument cluster lighting converted to LEDs
Calibrated speedometer
Heated grips
It still needs roundels and I need to assemble the matching newer style integral cases that I had painted with the rest of the parts.
Just took it for a 25 mile test ride.... smooth. _________________ 93 LT (x2)

I know you're doing it to tease me but it's NOT orange. I just went out to put the cover on it - it's a very nice red. It's a shame my digital camera doesn't pick it up. _________________ 93 LT (x2)

Great looking. I like the looks of the grilles you put on. However you may have reduced air flow by 25% or so.

I was just thinking how nice those perforated SS grills look, would they really reduce the airflow by that much? Whats normally there?
Great pity the three cylinder wasnt kept on in production, wouldve made a grand 1200 triple. Smooth mathematics, compact look and long lasting to boot.
Well done wif da bike, nothin wrong wif a bit o chrome |

The srock radaitor grill is a very open steel mesh.
I did consider this when doing it and bought the perforated stainless pattern wit h the highest open space - if I recall correctly 65% or something along those lines.
Although I've only put a few miles on it, yes, the perforated stainless does seem to reduce the airflow so the fan comes on a bit sooner when city riding. Doesn't seem to be an issue ay higher speeds though.
If i were going to ride it in traffic a lot I might replace the upper one with the stock grill - 5 minute swap.
Even a K900 would've been nice. IMO BMW dropped the ball there but I guess they got caught up in the horsepower race. _________________ 93 LT (x2)

Now it's even got roundels. I ran around town on it today. It's a hoot to ride. Feels pretty light compared to a K1100 and boy is it smooth. Nothing is like a K75....

Good job....looks very red on my screen not orange at all.
Bet the fairing doesnt suck in much engine heat and plenty of heat discharge blow away room at leg height.
You never know...after BM are done with the horsepower, grand prix thing, they could revisit some good designs.
Flash lookin nimble machine... |

Great job, Drake!
Clean and good taste. A real customization.
Looks like the McLaren Red of the F1 cars from the Airton Senna era...

Hey Duck, I just saw this bike listed on the IBMWR site. I can't believe you're going to sell such an awesome, one of a kind bike that you've obviously put a lot of time into.
Had I the funds and the misses blessing (of which I have neither), I'd buy that sweet bike in a heartbeat! _________________ Steve

Yeah well i guess there s a rational limit to the amount of rides in the stable.
Sure if i had a missus... ide tell her to allow me to buy it for her
On the other hand, if i had a girlfriend ide jus buy it for her and tell her to let me ride it
Awww shucks, if i had a girlfriend and a missus ide jus ride away into the sunset to camp under the stars beside a small fire, with my trust dog Layla
But seriously folks, i reckon the seat looks way way kool too and comfortable to boot. You certainly have done a great job for the new owner and all the very best from down under |

No such thing!

Now there's an angle I hadn't thought of! But then she'd probably put something pink on it to make sure I didn't ride it. _________________ Steve
