As I stated before about the sidecars, got a broken leg on the heal and I now also looking for a good way to protect my right knee and leg. Pants with armor? Stand alone armor? What is everyone favorite pants with good protection? Those summer one piece suits made of mesh that one wears under clothes or light weight suit look interesting (forgot the name). What say ya'all? And before all the wise guys chip in I want to have equal protection on the other leg too......... _________________ "Badges? We don't need no stinking badges"!
I like the social aspect of riding. Rally's, socializing, drinking beer, fartin' and carrying on.

I like the 'Stich stuff, my Darien's work well & fit comfortably.
When anyone asks, I tell them I'm wearing "Andy Pants".
No affilliation, just a nearby affection for stuff made in Duluth... _________________ Kent

Here's an option:
Challenge pant
and the matching jacket:
Airforce jacket - both from Rev'It
These are intended as summer riding gear (mostly mesh with ballistic nylon and a little leather), but with liners and layers, I wear them year-round. I like the pants because they're not really "overpants." As the Rev'It reps like to say, "They're a riding pant," which means they fit closer than a 'Stich Darien or other comparable types. They are a bit tight over jeans, but I have a couple pair of breathable microfiber hiking pants that work great underneath - not so bulky and quite cool with the mesh.
The Challenge and Airforce come with zip-in breathable waterproof liners that cut the breeze fairly well, but there is enough room to wear my Gerbing's jacket liner and a pair of fleece long johns under for the cooler temps (worked during the April delivery of owrstrich's Bug-Eyed Brick). The fabric (mesh and otherwise) is quite supple, not as stiff as my former Tourmaster Cortech stuff.
Downside to the "riding pant" concept: one must put the pants on before the boots. The zippers on the side of the legs don't open up enough to pull the pants over. But since the pants are more snug, I feel like the armor stays in place fairly well. I guess they're somewhat of a middle ground between overpants and the skin-tight Bohn Body Armor system. The stuff ain't cheap, but it's less than the Aerostich. I've been fairly satisfied...and I confess to being a bit of a tough customer.
I'll take a kick-back if any Rev'It reps are reading... _________________ tlp

md...
after wasting many hours looking for ways for the k11og geezers to spend their money... i have concluded that there are lotts of options for armor only and for armored up pants and jackets...
off road riders have all kinds of armor and stuff... besides your basic mx gear... those folks at adventure rider have lotts of info posted on their forums...
http://www.advrider.com
also webbikeworld has lotts of info too...
http://www.webbikeworld.com
now to my opinion... my next gear purchase will be the kevlar stuff from motoport... custom made to your size and lotts of options on armour too...
if you have not looked into motoport you ca do a motoport search at http://www.advrider.com or at http://www.pashnit.com and get lotts of info...
the motoport tri armor is supposed to be the best available... and combine that with 100% kevlar... too many rights to be wrong...
http://motoport.com
crazy aint it...

This armor looks interesting:

But I have no actual experience. I might like the ability to choose between this with regular pants over it -OR- true riding gear with the armor built in. _________________ John & Cathy
