Yeah I hear ya mate.

Part of doing the BMW thing is putting up with the dealers.

And some still wonder why many buy off the 'net instead of getting clipped by a local dealer.

Our local bicycle shop (where I have dropped LOTS of $$) gives frequent customers a break that brings the price down to what it would cost if ordering over the internet. Smart.

I broke an angle cylinder on my Western snow plow hitting a stump while plowing. We got 22 inches last Saturday night and have almost 4 feet on the ground this year. I went to the local dealer to get one and he was out so I went online and found one for $68, free shipping. The dealer called Friday to say they were in so I asked how much. He said $139.99!! Talk about gouging! Evil or Very Mad

My local dealer gives discounts to regulars. I have no complaints, but I am lucky. That much I know.

I'm lucky as well. I get my parts, service, etc. at Roots BMW in Cape Giradreau, Mo. and they have NEVER done me wrong. People from all over the country buy parts and bikes from them too, so I know it's not just me! Very Happy Also, the place is run by avid riders. I've always been treated like family there.

Hi, Mystic Red,
What is a "snow plow"? I know what a plow is. What is "snow"? Laughing

Jump on a plane and I'll show you lots of it. In places our 4 foot fence is covered! Haven't had this much snow in years and more is forecast for each day this week. If it keeps up I won't be able to get the bike to the highway till June. Evil or Very Mad

Dom - if you work for a BMW motorcycle dealer, you better tell us which one - AND make sure we get a good deal on parts!

Recent development? In other words, new job?

Sill's Motor Sales in Cleveland sillsmotor.com It's a BMW/Honda dealer Ohio's oldest BMW dealer &selling bikes since 1930. It's a good place,I am in sales now. After 13 years in the LTL industry, I decided to take a major pay cut and crappy benefits package to do something that I enjoy.

I can give pretty good deals on parts and bikes to my friends on the site, if you private message me and I recognize your name. Were not in the huge mail order business like A&S cycles, but we can send parts out. We have a lot of airhead parts that have been discontinued for years.

I have always been lucky to have 5 dealers within 100 miles from me. One of the dealers charges 30% over list on parts and $90.00 an hour labor rate. The worst part is that the mechanics are not very talented.

When I was a kid there were over 240 BMW dealers, now there is half that amount. One thing to be sure of however!!! If BMW wanted to sell there products themselves and skip the dealers they have the bank to do it. They don't since they worked the numbers and see there isnt any profit in it. In addition, they blame dealers for many of the problems that are on there end. I can't totally let the cat out the bag, besides I wouldn't have anything to say at Hungry Mother. Smile

that is definitly adding some drama to HMSP K11og meeting......cant wait!!

Dom, in general BMW dealers are the worst part of BMW's. Not all of them, but a lot of them. Knowing your there makes me feel like there is some hope.

Eurip....i didnt have a lot of time to go the mail route so I paid the price. But that extra money doesnt build a long time customer!! this is really the icing on the cake of my poor local dealer experiences. AGAIN!!

Hmmm. What kind of deal on a K12GT? How about if someone from the site was interested in an ST1300? Shocked (SACRILEGE!)

Oh, never mind. You said if PM'ed. Besides, that could start cutting into a guy's commission...

I suppose a guy like yourself may want to join up with one of the ST forums, or Gold Wings... Wink

Anyway, my hat off to you for having the guts to pursue something you enjoy - and I hope you do enjoy it!
