I would like to know the length of the mirror safety cable so I can make a set. Tip to tip.
Thank you, Michael _________________ IBA#42211

Uh... Mike?
How long have you been talking to yourself?
Guess when nobody responds to you, at least you can respond to you...
After seeing a tech article on making up safety cables from several pieces, I visited a hunting/fishing store and found a package of 9" wire wound leaders. Set me back $1.39 for 3 in the package.
Swivel at one end, openable snap connector at the other. Nothing to fabricate.
Took the mirror and the interior fairing panel off. Attached both ends to existing screws. Put it back together. EASY.
Good luck with yours.

Hey John, starting to get cabin fever and the flu. I got a piece of cable that supports light fixtures, a butt splice and a ring stack-on. Made the loop end and held it next to the bike and crimped the ring term on. Took about 15 minutes.
It took longer to get this link right than it did to make the cables! _________________ IBA#42211

Mike, my mirror leashes are about 6 inches long. I recall a post about someone who used steel fishing leader for leashes. I thought this was an excellent idea. Fishing leader has eyelets at both ends, plus the wire is smaller, stronger and more pliable that other materials you might use. _________________ 2000 R1100RT
