Just wanted to share some Spline pics....75000+ miles w/very light wear.
Measure the clutch with a Micrometer or Caliper. This one is .0006 under min...New clutch on order.
The spring mechanism must be cleaned and lubed where the fingers meet the coupling plate
The outer spring ring also gets a light coat of grease.

Just curious - what's the factory min on a clutch plate? What's the new spec? _________________ 93 LT (x2)

OH GEEZ!!
Okay Okay! Quit twisting my arm!!
I now will have to tear out my tranny and just go ahead and replace the clutch "while I'm at it".
I was hoping to IGNORE all the good advice and just ride ride ride this year.

Abreeze,
My 96 with 73K looked exactly the same. IMHO, I think some people are a little more paranoid then they have to be and get other people a little more worked up then they have to be, regarding the clutch and final drive. Certainly, there are some failures but not to the degree that some make the problem out to be.
I am happy that we still have the olde cabled clutch too! I don't like the feel of the brake fluid type, not to mention all the headaches that comes with that. The new mineral oil fluid is an improvement, but I would still rather have a cable. _________________ Dom |

Abreeze, what year is your bike, splines look great. Are they the nitrite or nickel-coated or whatever? And was your clutch slipping or otherwise giving you problems? Thanks. _________________ '93 K1100LT
