Spectro at least makes the synth/dino blend for sure - not sure about the others... _________________ Jim

No one's mentioned Valvoline VR1 Racing 20w- 50 dyno (?). When the mileage on the clock gets up a little more, I'm switching to Mobil 1 15w-50 syn. _________________ "Some things I know, some things I don't"

After using Valvoline Racing 20w-50 for quite a while on my '78
SR500 cafe bike, I found out that Racing oil was designed for a
race & then dump application. The person who rebuilt the top end
of my engine said he had never seen a more dirty engine interior
in his life. When I said that I had been using the Racing oil, he
explained my error. YMMV, my .02 _________________ Kent

Maybe Dom (Das Boot) can look this up, Parts Bulletin #71-025 was released in 1998 when BMW first started selling the SSEO engine oil. It is formulated by Valvoline for BMW. I use Mobil1 15-50 in all my bikes and two cars.
"BMW NA is proud to announce the release of two
new fully synthetic lubricants for use on BMW
motorcycles. These new lubricants were developed
from the racing lubricants offered by Valvoline and
possess exceptional qualities in excess of traditional
mass-market synthetic lubricants. A technical
description of each oil is provided on the attached
page." _________________ Mick McKinnon

Mick,
I pulled up the old two pages. It does in fact say Valvoline was making the oil. Although, my old quarts and the new stuff still says Spectro, maybe the two companies are the same? The BMW dino and sythetic oils all say Spectro on the back of the bottles? Wish I could cut and paste all of the stuff on here I 'd probably be out of a job in a week. Hope to see everyone at Hungry Mother!! _________________ Dom |

Dom,
There is a much longer story on why the labels all say Spectro even though the contents are NOT Spectro. I'll post it when I can find it again. _________________ Mick McKinnon
