Well the gales here in the south west of the UK have now included me amongst the victims. My bike was blown off it's side stand today whilst parked at work. Must have been a very strong wind to blow a 630lb motorcycle over...
The damage could have been worse, just the right hand mirror, mirror housing and rear indicator, the bike is old so I can't really count the scratches to the fairing. Thank goodness for the engine bars, I think the bike survived a lot because of them. And it *just* missed the Harley it was parked next too
There seem to be no used K1100LT mirrors anywhere in the UK, so I may have to venture abroad for a replacement! let me know if you spot one

Don't feel TOO bad. I think yours is the 2nd UK bike here that's been blown over in the part couple of years.
You guys need to develop some sort of brace for the sidestand in high winds.
Is it possible to point your bike into the winds - or do they gust around too much?
Sorry to hear about your mishap. _________________ 93 LT (x2)

This thread could go in all sorts of directions windy, gusty....
I think the problem was very strong gusts of wind and I'd lent the bike into the wind on the sidestand, side on. If I'd parked with the wind forcing the bike onto the side stand then It'd prolly still be OK.. ho hum _________________ Adrian in Somerset, UK

Darn! That SUX! Sorry about that.
Is it possible to park it in a manner that protects it from the wind, say sheltered by a building perhaps?

Adrian.
I'm sorry about what happened with you!
Try http://www.motorworks.co.uk for a good used mirror.
I already bought some parts with them and was all right.
