Let's see, in 2002 I bought my first new bike, an AquaMint 1150RT. Browsing the BMWRT site i read of many complaining of the lask of a cruise control on the RT, so I bought an Audiovox universal control and decided to install it in my RT, and perhaps develop a kit to sell. Well, shortly after the cruise arrived, my marraige fell apart, yada yada yada, and I sold the bike, yada, yada, yada, so the cruise never got installled. I must have moved it around in my garage a thousand times since then. I thought I'd install it in the Mustang, but nah, too much bother. In 2005 I joined this group when I got my LT (has it been that long ago?) and I saw Duck's thread on the cruise install and decided to do it right away. Well....yada yada yada...I finally got around to it this weekend, and I'm Baaaaccckkkk!!!!!!!!
The servo installs easily in the tailpiece, and the cable mounting was a cinch using the large 'L' bracket that came with the kit. I did not drill any holes to mount the bracket, I simply slotted the left hole vertically, and the right horizontally, loosened the two injector rail screws and slid the bracket on. I used a mini right angle ratcheting screwdriver to loosen and tighten the screws, so I did not have to take the tupperware off.
I did stake the cable adjuster bracket with a #4 self-tapping screw to prevent the cable from pivoting.
The cruise works well, however, I had to disconnect the Kisan Tailblazer, because the cruise would input voltage to the tailight, which caused the Tailblazer to report a brake light fault. When I switched on the cruise and hit the Set button, the brake fail light came on disabling the cruise. Looks like I'll have to go with a different type of brakelight modulator.
Look closely and you can see a garage door opener attached to the left bucket face. I wired it in so flashing the headlight opens the garage door, and flipping on the fog lights opens the front gate. Not pictured is a Stebel horn installed in place of the left Low Fiamm horn. Like Duck, I kept the right High horn, man do they make some noise. Both horns operate off the horn switch, I just added a separte relay for the Stebel.
Ah.. It's good to be back amongst the living. Stay tuned, my wife and I are taking a long overdue long weekend trip this weekend to Nogales Mexico, and I just added a Motocomm DSR-100 helmet cam/DVR setup, it's going to be fun.
Cheers

Off-topic, but thanks for the shot with the handlebar mounted screen switch - I thought they were the stuff of legend, never seen one before - neat
What does the fog-light switch do, OEM or ancilliary fog at rear ?
Also, the under-seat area is very impressive - What year is the bike ? _________________ C1 200 (2001)

Chopper - the '95's didn't have the bar mounted switch - the 97's do. I don't know where the switch is on the '96's.
You're right - that is a very clean bike. _________________ Jim

Thanks for props, the fog light switch illuminates the red neon rings of the front mounted lights. I have an Autoswitch through the turn signal cancel button that lights the halogen fog lights. I'll get a photo later to show you what the neon rings look like, they are cool at night. The bike is a 97', original paint-just turned 75K miles.
The bike just gets better with age, I don't know what it is, but the LT seems to truly satisfy.
Cheers,
Larry

Thanks Jim. It's by far the most useful bike I have owned. I am the second owner, the PO that had he rbefore me took good care of her, so it has been relativiely easy to keep her in top nick. When the K1100LT was introduced I thought it was an 'old man's bike, and as a 'purist' I wanted nothing to do with 'K Whiners'. Man was I decieved. There is nothing 'old man' about this bike, and it really does everything very well, and still feels like a motorcycle.

Dude, that bike is way too clean. The tail shots look like they are from a garage queen or something.
If memory recalls, did you not have valve or drive problems with the bike and get really pissed at it....I may be wrong. (and frequently am)
And welcome back...was thinking about installing real cruise control, but if it's going to take up 3/4 of my tail storage I am not sure if it's a project I want. _________________ Bane of your existence since July 2006

Ain't no garage queen, I can promise you that. 75K and just getting started.
No real problems, I did replace the timing chain tensioner and guides at 74K because of noise, but no other issues. I replaced the clutch at 50K, because the rear main seal was weeping on it.
Ther is still plenty of room for the tool kit in the tail, I'll load it up tonight and post photos of what fits. _________________ Larry

OTG - there is plenty of room in the left front side of the fairing for that big kruse kontrol can. Good news is, the new units are electronic and don't have that big can! Get it and get it on! _________________ Jim

Those are great. I jsut installed one on my 93 LT. If you do buy one, there's an intermediate wiring harness that's needed for hooking up the windscreen switch to your wiring harness. I think the part number is 61122305687.
I also just put one on my 94 RS. I use the lower button to power my new Stebel Nautilus airhorn. I use the top for my ABS switch since I fi;led up my switch slots with other stuff and got rid of the OEM ABS switch.

It's a homemade job, but I am considering making a few more, if there is enough interest. It combines a standard Gadgetguy Baseplate II with the hand-fabricated mounting bracket. Bracket Kit IV for the 1150RT was my design, but did I ever see royalties? No way man. His best selling kit too... I'm not bitter, but I was smart enough to keep the LT bracket design to myself. But that's a yarn for another time. (The RT in the Kit IV install photo is mine.)
I am using the internal GPS antenna of the 2820, and I do not have the GXM 30 connected at this time either. I have the XM through the pioneer bits in the right bucket, the radio is in the left one.
http://gpsforless.stores.yahoo.net/baseplatei.html
Thanks for the props mate.
