I know its not that time consuming to put back the belly pan but its off now and I'm waiting for my tags to arrive and then I'm going to drive my newly acquired 93 K1100RS for a long ride to get some new fuel through it and open it up and get it up to operating temperature to change all fluids etc.
Can I ride around without the belly pan? Will it cause any problems. I'm going to make sure the hardware for the belly pan bolts on the side fairings are taped in position so I won't loose them.
The other reason I ask is that the belly pan needs painting and I'd like to be able to ride the bike while the belly pan is at the painters. |

That's the same color as by bike. That doesn't look bad at all. I may even find some flat black moulding and put it around the bottom of the fairing to hide the holes! |

I'm considering it. I like the flat black look that I've used on my System Cases on my R1100RT using Duplicolor spray on truck bed liner in light dusted coats. Around $6 bucks a can and worth every penny... it really works well.
sorry I don't have any photos to post. |

Yes you can certainly rid the bike with no belly pan, however you may want to remove all the little hardware so they don't get lost, the little tabs that the screws thread into are always getting lost. Also unless I missed my bet your spark plugs are exposed on the other side of the bike (left) what I did was buy a spark plug cover for an LT and it fit, this avoids any crap or water finding its way around the plugs and wires.
Just one man's opinion.
Enjoy your new bike in good health _________________ 1996 K1100 RS SE |
