Hi fellow brick riders,
I have lost the plastic cap and centre bolt from the rear wheel - had new tyres fitted by a dealer a few months ago! I have been told that the bike is safe to ride with the centre bolt missing as it only holds the plastic wheel cover in place. I have been using the bike with no problems - as I thought I had only lost the cover - however, now I am not confident to use the bike until I replace the centre bolt. Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks Mark (photoman) Mad

You should be fine. Most of the sheer force is on the other four bolts and lots of BMWs never had a center bolt.

I don't use the center bolt on my sidecar conversion, and have had no problems.
