If you have the space open (I did) here's where I put my GPS unit.
In this pic I had to trim part of the switch holders so my strap and nuts would clear the rain drain of the windshield lip.
I was able to feed the wire up underneath the mount and hide it in the fairing. _________________ Ride safe.

Nice clean setup.
How much is that Garmin and is it waterproof? _________________ Bane of your existence since July 2006

I got it for just under $500 off Amazon,
the bracket was $30.
Yep is waterproof for cycle use.
I think that it's the last StreetPilot model since the Zumo came out.
It came with NT 2008 map database.
I like it so far. _________________ Ride safe.

Looks like a great setup. My only question is why you wouldn't put it on the clutch side instead?

It's easier for me to use my right hand w/o crossing over. It also sets on the right side of the dash in my vehicles, so I'm getting used to it on the right.
I dont' seem to be very efficient with my left hand.
Besides, your not supposed to manipulate these things when you moving anyway, right?
It came with a IR remote, but I don't think I'll have that on the bike. _________________ Ride safe.

Nice setup Scott, the 2820 is a good unit and can be had for a great price now. Several weeks ago my LT unit was stolen out of my car after a smash and grab (Second one in a month) and the insurance did not cover it because instead of lying and telling them it was built in I told the truth and said it was a mobile GPS..Grrr (I digress) Anyway, the next day I went on Ebay and picked one up with all the accessories, including extra cables, the GXM30 reciever, motorcycle mount and screen protection film for $500. I highly recommend it, the bluetooth is great and the MP3 player is nice too. I have audio books loaded on it and it is a great way to pass the time on long slab rides.
My only concern is the line of sight location, careful you don't take your eyes off the road too often.. Solid setup though.
Good on ya mate.

^^ Beautiful setup.
Pisses me off though that a good vehicle GPS can be had for 150-300 but a cycle one is still 500+. _________________ Bane of your existence since July 2006
