Anybody got a manual for this they'd be willing to scan and email me? Xerox and snail mail me? Or just tell me how to operate it? Namely, is it safe to leave the bike hooked up to it all of the time? (except when riding ) What's the "Start" switch do?

Well, unlike operating instructions for Windows "to shut down, click on 'start'......." _________________ Ride safe.

here you go...
i have the same charger in iowa... the dood said he plugged it into the port by the coils during the cold indiana wintrers...
ron at judson cycle told me it would top off the battery and shut off until the battery needed to be topped off again... then it would start up and do it all over again...
its all hearsay... but thats what i heard... thinking about bringing it back to the west coast in july... the bug eye brick will be on 4 weeks without running when we get back... dont want to weld the starter realy contacts...
there you are...

I had one of those. The start switch is normally not needed. It is there to "jump start" a really dead battery. In other words one that is so dead that the charger doesn't know it's connected to it. You can leave it on all the time too. Mine died or I'd still be using it. It came with my '87 K100RS. _________________ Paul - '93 K11/12RS (sold), 2002 R1100S BCP and '03 RC51 KOG 29 |

Thanks, gang. I have an RX-7 convertible which I rarely drive but I want a charger on it all of the time. (Bikes are faster and more fun.) I'm gonna snip off the Powerlet plug and put some clamps on it. _________________ 93 LT (x2)

from mr largiader...
http://www.largiader.com/articles/charging.html
In the early '90s BMW included a charger with their motorcycles. Part 95 61 1 250 700 is a large black Schumacher charger which charged until the voltage reached 14.0V, then it turned off and resumed charging after the voltage had dropped. This was updated with 95 61 1 250 800. Either is a perfectly adequate charger except that it gives no indication that it's working, other than a small ammeter. If the unit fails, you can't see from across the garage that it is dead. This charger, for conventional (flooded) batteries, was later superseded by 71 60 7 676 472 and 72 60 1 470 156 (a Deltran charger).
