Has anyone tried those Kevlar brake pads on EBay? Or any Kevlar pads?

These pads appear deceptive. Described as BMW Rear Pads, it implies that they are OEM stock, but I don't believe they are.

I always specify EBC for bikes I have in the workshop.
My K11LT has EBC sport grade FA246 HH Sintered, copper backed pads on the front, and the regular FA18 organic pads on the rear.

The K's are big old girls, and take a lot of stopping - don't compromise with unknown brake pads Wink

I use EBCs but see no need for sintered. (Best price usually at http://www.mawonline.com/newsite/ebc-brake_pads.htm

The bike has more than enough stopping power to get you into ABS land quickly with regular pads and how much more braking do you need? Since they're harder, the sintered pads will eat your rotors faster too.

I like a little feel in my brakes as well so I don't want an instant monster grip and am fine with non-sintered pads.

Just my .02.

It comes from a French word meaning "more expensive." Laughing

On a more serious note:

after reading the links in this post i would go with DP pads and get a sintered set all around.. if the abs is working on the bike the more agressive the pad the shorter the controlled stopping distance.. that is if you can stay on the bike while you make a hook on the third wire..

remember the abs you must STOMP STAY STEER; stomp hard on the brakes stay on the brakes and steer around the action.

if abs in INOP threashold braking

Yea, that's what I was thinking and I believe JO's favorite motorcycle store, The Helmet Outlet, carries them and they're local. Cool

Hi, All,
Should anyone be interested, I have 2 sets of OEM brake pads for the K1100 (also K100 4-valve and K-1) fronts. One is the original material, which was on the bike when it left the factory, and the other is the later, sintered, material. Since I hit the deer, I have not had a (rideable) K1100. I'd like $50 for the earlier and $75 for the later sets, shipping included to continental USA. Each set contains 4 pads, to do a bike, not just one rotor. If you're interested, send me a PM or e-mail me at valcyr@whc.net. I won't have internet access until Thursday 6/26.
Ride Safe,

If red took the sintered, I'll take the original. PM on da way.
