I checked the resistance on the tank side wires to the fuel pump and got a reading of 1.5; is that really high? _________________ '93 K1100LT 61k |

So what you're saying is you checked the resistance through the windings of the pump motor? 1.5 what? mOhms or ohms or Mohms(!). Do you have symptoms or are you just the curious type? _________________ Paul - '93 K11/12RS (sold), 2002 R1100S BCP and '03 RC51 KOG 29 |

Think back to your elementary electrical engineering, where V = IxR
So, I = V/R or 12/1.5 = 8
This device would pull 8 Amps under normal running.
For the K11 high pressure fuel injection system, the fuse is rated at 15A.
The resistance you measure would seem to be in the right ball park _________________ C1 200 (2001)

I believe I was checking the pump. It was a four gang connector with an oem looking tag that said "Tank" on it. As far as the ohms; I have an auto-ranging multimeter and did not look to see what it was giving it to me in. What should I be measuring it in? I am not very electrically litertate.
As far as symptoms; fuel pump cut out on me twice while running in the same day. Both times it would start back up after the bike had sat for over an hour. Lots of side stand jiggling and wire connection checking during this time, but it all seemed random as far as the last thing I did when it would work when I turned the ignition key.
I Suspect maybe the connector to the injection computer may have not been tight. The day before I had the battery out putting some new lock nuts on after my split rings failed me and I might have been sloppy locking it back on. The third time the pump would not fire up, this time when trying to start it afte riding it and letting it sit, I disconnected that and reconnected it and the pump fired right up.
Don't know if thats the real cause though so I thought I would check a few things I know I should check based on other posts on the site.
Over 14 volts are going to the pump, resistance was zero on the side stand switch _________________ '93 K1100LT 61k |

I had the same problem. Thoroughly cleaning the conductors on the 4-pin tank connector with a dental pick, then packing it with grease to prevent new corrosion, seems to have permanently fixed it. _________________ '93 K1100RS

Definetily going to give the bike an electrical tune up. Nothing worse than electrical gremlins. _________________ '93 K1100LT 61k |
