jo, its all good. Last time there was 1998 for the BMWMOA rally in Missoula. Rode the "Going to the Sun Road" and it was great. If you want to make a loop out of it, Hwy 2 on the south side of Glacier is also very nice, but not as great as "Going to the Sun Road" which has only been open since the July 4th holidays due to snow. BTW, I don't know the name of it, but I hear there is a great steakhouse in Babb. Anyway, I'm leaving in 2 weeks to ride there and more. I'm riding the Continental Divide Ride on my dual sport Suzuki DR650 ending up at the Mexican border in New Mexico. Both our rides should be good.

The best way to enjoy the scenery is take the free shuttle both ways - park the bike and ride. If you're riding, you really can't look around all that much.

forgot to mention the shuttles make stops along the way - you can get off one, hang out, take pix, whatever - then jump on another one.

When you're trying to keep the bike from going of the edge and down a few thousand feet you really don't see much other than the yellow line...

There's a lot of nice riding out in that part of the country - enjoy!

we got it all sorted out by 2am... getting ready to roll... late start but what the he11...

there was a 75 year old couple from kalispel looking at the bug eye brick when i awoke this morning... he used to have a 88 k75...

they are on a r1200gs they scored in mosuolla 2 years ago... he had a honda st1100 then went to the st1300 but his old legs were calling for a lighter more nimble motobike and the gs is where its at for them... they gave us some pointers... said medicine lake is a must see... 75 years old 2 up on a gs... life is good for the geezers...

ok... perfect weather... bye...

Owstrich: I know the ice cream was good, but what did you think of the Road to the Sun?

After doing it a week ago, I am inclined to think that the shuttles is a better way to enjoy the terrain, while the speed limits and traffic make for an uninspiring ride...

Ride it wihthout a helmet on - only way to go - even if you're a helmet Nazi. Given the speeds in national parks the likelihood of an accident or hitting a critter is minimal IMO. Might be a tad windy on an RS though.

What gets my craw is that they want to eliminate snowmobile riding in Yellowstone claiming the noise is bad for critters - but in the summer I guess it's OK for packs of loud pipe hawgs to roam free. Rolling Eyes
