I have tried turning the wheel to the end of steering travel, left and right and then turned the key counterclockwise to lock it , without success. Could anyone describe the proper way to do this?
Thanks, Brent

All of the way right, then back a few degrees while turning the key counterclockwise. Note theat there are two locked positions - one leaves the front parking light and tail light on.

Right, Johnny? Very Happy

BMW steering locks are like a woman - you need to be slow, gentle and find the right spot Wink

It is roughly mid-way between full right lock and straight ahead.
As duck correctly says, start at full right lock.

Very slowly turn the bars back to centre whilst keeping a gentle anticlockwise pressure on the ignition key. You will feel the bite point, and the key will slip to the 'Off' mark.

If you apply further anticlockwise pressure, it should slip to the next position 'P*', with the front upper lamp (5W) and rear tail illuminated.

Do you have the flip key, with the pointer ? The keyblade is at 90' behind the pointer, which is confusing.

I replaced the engraved barrel surround, as the symbols had long since been rubbed away - the best $5 I have spent, it really finished off the detailing around the dash area.

Like my Washingtonian? (Huh?) It's been a very fine summer here this year, probably similar to what you've been getting furhter south.

PS A great place, just no BMW support for miles!

This forum is the best. I have had the bike 1 month. Have already had a dead battery because I left the radio on. I tried countless times to get the lock to work and just figured it was broken. Reading the posts allowed me to get it locked in 10 seconds and now I can ensure I will not let the radio kill the battery again.

FYI: Since the map light is "stolen" from a BMW car and has a 3-position switch, you can wire it up like a car so that one on position is switched and one on position isn't.

The K75s don't have a column lock, right?

Right, it's a conventional fork lock on the steering head.

I haven't seen one of those since my RD250!

Shook some pepper down the side between the fairing and the folks and when that little sucker popped up I grabbed it Very Happy

Seriously, I don't know if I can get my hand down in there to insert the key, but I'll try when I'm worried enough about security.

Thanks for telling me where to look.

The other Larry
