In general I don't use the radio on the bike because the volume would have to be anti-socially high to be audible as I trundle along. Ok, so I have a little digital radio which sits in my top pocket and flat ear phones - job done.
But then I thought why not connect phones to the radio direct. So that's what I've done - took a line off the front speakers, connected to a 3.5 female stereo jack which is attached just above the left front speaker (don't ask why I put it there). I've used a wad of fibreglass paste on the back of the plug (not pretty) to hold it in place, tilted slightly downwards to avoid water ingress and sealed with silicone. Now I just plug in as I get on and have the added advantage of the handlebar volume control for those times when you need to reduce the volume fast.
Anyone done anything similar or better?!
As a not very technical sort of cove, I'm inordinately proud of my adaptation.

Using an isolating transformer, I connected my radio to the Starcom Advance line input, that way, we can either listen on the move quietly, or through the speakers whilst picnicing etc. Just a word of warning however, if one of the speaker cables should ever touch ground, it may fry the radio. Hence the isolation transformer.

Having abandoned my faithful K11 in a fit of fancy for a K12, I don't remember whether or not they shared a feature of the K12: an audio system which compensated for speed, providing a reasonable and unobtrusive volume when stopped but increasing, effectively, with speed.

I can hear my sound system clearly (with face shield up) at any speed; yet I have never gotten dirty looks from those offended by euro-trash boom box boys.
