Fight it or plead it down to a tailgating? (2pts and 130$ fine)
Other than a few tickets with the cage in 05, my license is clean.
He said he paced me at 80, which is impossible because my speedo was reading 80 which means I was actually going 74ish.
Was going to plead not guilty because it's possible his speedo was off too.
Thoughts?
(other than don't speed, of course. I ride a 15yr old BMW with full gear, I'm not pulling wheelies, just got caught at a bad time) _________________ Bane of your existence since July 2006

Lawyer up.
What's the speedon the ticket say?
$130 for 25 over in WA would be nothing. _________________ 93 LT (x2)

I Know you're not asking me
Here's the shameful truth. I have a speeding addiction. This 10 year record is a sample of how I've been driving / riding since 1980.
It's even worse than it appears. This doesn't show all the times officers let my sorry guilty ass off with a professional, "Now just slow down there missy" and with a curt nod and tip of the hat, let me go.

I came w/i 1 point of suspension at #22
But I'm working on it.
I suggest just show up on the court date, get some points knocked off, pay your ticket and learn faster than me how not to get anymore tickets. _________________ 1993 K1100RS aka The Shop Whore

See if you can postpone it. If you can do it once, you may casue the cop to have to reschedule everything for a ticket--he may not want to do that, and not show up for court. Then it is "Judge, where is the person that ticketed me?" and you may get to bargain it down quite a bit.
ANYHOW, GOOD LUCK!

Shogs:
"Slow on the straights, fast in the turns."
Ever heard that one before? It's a great strategy to reduce your overall chances of getting tickets. Is it really that much more fun to go 90 on the straights vs. 70? Is it worth the money?
I set my cruise control at 8 over and let that handke the speed in the straights - disengage it and go zippy on the turns. _________________ 93 LT (x2)

Shogs, if you lived in Illinois your license would be revoked.
Last week I completed a 1600 mile trip from Chicago to Thunder Bay in Ontario, Canada. On my way home I was clocked at 80 in a 65 in Mauston, Wisc. Surprisingly, the cop let me off with only a warning. _________________ 2000 R1100RT

Gwen - I don't know how you do it! I've had my license restricted twice (due to speeding) for six months - fortunately, my employer (me) was able to write a letter with very generous travel hours for work! _________________ Jim

Dang, that was fast!
The last two tickets I got were in NY state - in the car - at the Fredonia speed trap. The second was not written for speeding - no points on my license - however, my insurance company (Progressive) picked it up somehow. My auto insurance went up $300.00 per year - for the next three years In addition to the fine, that single ticket cost me $900.00 - for a grand total of $1,145.00 or so! Fortunately, the premium on the motorcycle policy didn't go up. _________________ Jim

HOLY #%$@!@#@!!!,
Shogs- Do you ever ride near the limit??
Back in the late 70's I got 3 speed stops (1 was for 3 mph over but does anyone here remember when the the NATIONAL speed limit was 50?) and lost my license for 3 mos.
How did you keep your license? _________________ John & Cathy

Well we all hope you can adjust because we all hate to lose a fellow rider. Especially the fairer sex. Not enough of the ladies around. _________________ "Badges? We don't need no stinking badges"!
