I am missing the little round plastic pieces that keep the side covering in place - they do not seem to be available seperately from the whole covering (part #46632324563, $218.98 !). Does anybody know a source, or a part number under which they are available?

No, I found them separate. Call Chicago BMW or some other stealer and they will fix you right up.

I think you are referring the small lengths of rubber tubing. I bought a meter of the stuff from Motorworks. Seemed to be the same part number as other tubes such as breather hose

Did the pin break? or just the covering?
Mine was waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaayyyyyy worn out, the covering I mean, and I almost lost a side cover. ER tape saved the day after I held it trapped with my leg & got the bike stopped. Used 1/8" black rubber vac tubeing over the pins. Both pins, the front AND the back.
Works very well & very secure now.

Same thing, I almost lost one, and those things are expensive to replace.

Nearest auto parts store, sometimes even Wal Mart has it in the auto section. I'm guessing 79 cents a foot.

But the OEM rubbers look sooo much nicer 
About $1.50 each, they have a closed end, and push snugly onto the spigot.
Part # 46631452400, they are common with the Mono airheads.
Give the outer surface of each rubber a light coat of oil before you refit the side panels, the go on much more easily (and stay there !)

Yes, I guess they look nicer, but when the side covers are on the bike, not visable. Exception, the back one shows only the length, not the ends.
I cut mine flush with a razor blade. No oil thank you, just touch the tip of your finger in some dish soap I apply that.
Good to go.

Good temp fix, but it will fail you when either least expected, or when needed most. Some times it's both!
Result if you can't catch it is expensive.

No kidding. When I rode my RS home up the caost after buying it, the right panel would fly off - usually when passing someone along the coast at 100mph. Kind of tricky to complete the pass and save the side cover while staying alive. I have vacuum hose on mine now.

the plastic clip in the middle are broke off on both panels so they are held on with bungees...
the bug eye motobrick has about 10 pounds of bungees... tape... cable ties... holding things together...

you ain't vanilla either.
Not this year, but next for sure, I need road, lots & lots of road, gotta head way North West again, been too long since I've wandered far and away & my heart is sad for it.
