|
I have searched the files for about 45 minutes looking for a write up on installing the 50 amp in place of the 32 amp. I can't find one. Can someone please give me a rundown on the steps involved.
I am running 2 sets of running lights and heated clothing now on my early '93 Klt. While in WI a month ago, I drained the battery using the two sets of auxillary lights and the headlight. I had to jump the bike from my friend's Victory. That was embarassing.
I picked up a 50 amp alternator and am ready to install. Will this also fit on a K75c? If yes, I will need a second one. Thanks. _________________ Dave in MI

This is from memory so wait for someone else to verify.
Run a large battery cable from the large terminal on the alternator to the + battery terminal. Take the blue wire from the current alternator connector, put a ring terminal on it and connect it to the small terminal on the alternator.
Yes, it's possible on a K75. MY project K75S has one.
There's a couple of R1100 alternators on ebay for $90 buy it now - good price(Same alternator - you need toreplace the pulley wheel with a K bike "cup." I did that on my LT.)
I have from a bike with only 8000 miles for sale for $175. _________________ 93 LT (x2)

Dave,
You need the driven cup from the 50A unit to mate it correctly with your early drive dog. The cup has changed but the drive dog has not.
There was a very complete write-up on this forum until all the old posts were lost about a month ago.

Mick,
Any idea who wrote up the install notes? _________________ Dave in MI
