From just a quick look at RealOEM, I would say no.
They list the same part #12312305888 for all of the 1200rs's from 1st production to last, and that number doesn't match any of the 1100 listings that I looked at. _________________ Ride safe.

No, but the 50 amp alternator from a later K75, K1100, R1100 or R1150 will. The R bkes have a pulley system so you have to replace the pulley with a "cup." _________________ 93 LT (x2)

Why not just scrape up a 60amp alternator from a later model K1100LT? _________________ M N B

I think that the 50A is the later model alternator. The earlier ones were only 32A. _________________ Ride safe.

After doing a little research, it seems they seem to be in the habit of underrating the amperage output of the alternators given their rated wattage...
My '97 has a 700 watt alternator, which works out to 58.3amps. That's a heck of a lot closer to 60amps than 50. But the parts fische refers to it as a 50amp.
The K1200RS uses an 840watt alternator, which calculates to 70amps. However, it's also incorrectly referred to as a 60amp alternator.
Sorry if my confusion on that confused you...

They are rated at 14.0 V so 700 Watts = 50 Amps. I know of no alternators that are rated at 12V.

Ah, that makes sense since the charging system will approach near 14v sometimes. Thanks!
Why do they rate them in amps anyways? Most devices you'd wire/plug in are rated in watts (lighting, heated gear, etc). _________________ M N B

Usually,
Load numbers are in WATTS but Supply numbers are in amps. _________________ Mick McKinnon

I have a 60A alternator from a K1200RS, it is physically larger than the 50A K1100LT aternator and will not fit. _________________ Larry

Larry,
Does your fuel pressure run in the low 40's normally?
