The fair weather riders are disappearing very fast around here. Last night was 24 degrees- high 40s today.

So what's a die-hard motorcyclist to do?

Tomorrow I'm going on a late morning ride with a hardcore group from an area Ducati shop- "Frosty's Damn Its Cold Ride". They have welcomed me via return email and promise not to hold it against me that I am riding the K. Will be interesting to check out their rides and the dealership. Always have had a soft spot for Ducs after following Cook Neilsen and his superbike (kind of showing my age, eh?). Hey, no FD problems.

Otherwise, I've gotta make it to Halloween, at least. This way it might only be a 5 month layoff.

The northern hemisphere is getting cold and dark........

Love riding this time of year.

No heat issues and the bike runs like a scared dog. Cool

HEY! Weren't you just complaining about the heat like a month ago? Razz

Who, me? Rolling Eyes

Well yeah, but more like back in July/early August. Numero uno winter garage mod is a FAN SWITCH.

Anyway- now its Sunday 6 a.m. just got up for breakfast to fuel MY boiler for the ride. Its 22 outside. Gotta leave by 7:30. Looks like its trailer time to get the bike through Franconia Notch where the pavement is very likely to be SLIPPERY.

Supposed to get up to 55 today Very Happy

Just a couple more rides, please.....

This is the only time of year where I have to remind myself that America still uses Fahrenheit, 'cos when I read that it had been 24 yesterday and you were saying it was cold, I thought; 'What the hell's wrong with 24? How can you be cold at 24? 24 is a perfectly nice temperature....but it was the; 'High 40s today' which jogged the memory....that'd be one warm day for mid October, or any other time of the the year in the UK for that matter.. Very Happy

Back from Ducati land. Nice group of people. Superbikes, Monsters, ST's

and....... another BMW. a '92 R100RS in MINT condition.

10 bikes. Great ride, good pace. Bit more than posted limits but not crazy.

Weather warmed up. Left @ 7:30/22 F and decided to ride to the shop where the ride began. Got up to mid 50's by noon. Did about 125 miles and had a mid-ride lunch.

Great LATE season ride.

Around the Chicago area, Harleys and BMWs are just about the only bikes I see on the road when temps drop below 50 degrees.

Well, not this mototool from Minne-Dakota. I'd need a GS with studded knobbies. And maybe a side hack.

But then I'd be worthy of:

By winter, the snow is on the side of the road, in the middle of the road, it is everywhere......

This weekend our Oregon BMW Riders have our Hardy Souls campout at a new site. Unfortunately, the weather report indicates there will be no snow, high winds or low temperatures. At these events in the past we have had to shovel snow to put up tents and have had temperatures down to 4 degrees F.
We may have to move the event into December to obtain the proper weather for the event.

Did a ride by myself today for 2 hours at 28-30 degrees F. Only one cold spot on me- the tip of my index finger (I ride with it touching the brake lever).

Heated grips, heated vest, Bohn underarmor, Aeroflow windshield and Hades (my K1100RS).

Roads still clear and no ice. But the 4000' peaks are WHITE.

The end of riding season is closing fast for me (and I will ride until I cannot due to slippery stuff), and I was the only one on two wheels around here today. The H-D riders especially are LONG GONE.
