Hi y'all,
I've recently joined your group after purchasing a 1993 K1100LT earlier this year. I really like the bike and it has rapidly become my, (but not yet my SO's) favorite. It is down right now for some winter maintenance and I have a question for the group. One of the side covers, the left, is missing the hook that goes around the pin with the rubber grommet on it. Other than that, the cover is perfect. Has anyone out there in 11LT land come up with a fix for some kind of latching mechanism to replace the original on the inside of the cover to fasten back to the pin?
Thanks in advance for any kind of advice and the knowledge on this site is absolutely amazing. _________________ Jackson

I had a broken one - the only thing you could do would be to find some spring steel clip about the same size and glue it or rivet it on.
I opted to buy a new painted cover - it wasn't all that much - considering it's a BMW... _________________ Jim

I've got one whith the opposite problem, the brass looking pin whith the rubber sleeve came out.
It never did fit the hole tight. And the ONE time that I test ride without the side cover on............ now it's gone. _________________ Ride safe.

The pins on mine were loose, too. I glued 'em in before they had a chance to escape... _________________ Jim

I had one broken, and bought the new painted cover from BMW, but found that the hook isn't necessary provided the rear pin and upper button are intact. I have ridden many miles without the hook on one cover. Just my $.02 worth. _________________ Larry
