|
|
I am considering selling my PIAA 910's. They are in excellent shape with 110 watt bulb in each. They are the original version, not the newer 55watt
Does anyone have an idea on the value of these? thanks! _________________ Dave in MI

I think your best bet is to sell them on eBay. PIAA are in demand. Takes the worry out of pricing.
FYI: Johnny gave me a PIAA 910 (just one with no wiring) after the other was was stolen. I got something like $76 + shipping for it on eBay. (Thnks, Johnny. ) _________________ 93 LT (x2)

Friend of mine came by last week with a set of 910's he had modified to use HID bulbs. He called them his Holy F*&$ lights. And they are.
I ordered a set of H3 HID's from China and am getting ready to do the same mod.
Should be an interesting upgrade. Now if I can just find some brackets to mount them the Shogmoblie... |

I have guinea pigged the trail tech lights. I have had both the 11's and 16's, don't waste time on the 11's. the scmr 16's are nice. I have two sets of those I just bought used to put on Gwen's bikes too...
As far as my bike goes, I don't ride. :nono
I have an 07GS Adventure that works just fine. Replaced the stock Halogen bulbs with HID's on that earlier this week. What a freaking difference. |

Riding behind Steve last night was amazing how bright they were, and not a single car flashed him. _________________ 1993 K1100RS aka The Shop Whore

Trailtech = 13 watts. These are 30 and 40 watt flame throwers. I don't know what the 11's and the 16's are??? _________________ Scott Hespelt, '94 K11LT

No, I'm familiar with HID lighting, which is often illegal in many states due to the blue tint. _________________ M N B

not true
hid's are used in most new cars. they may be illegal due to the reflectors not being designed for the intensity of the hid bulb, but it has nothing to do with the color of the light. |

Some are bluish, some aren't. Cops love to fuck with people with extra lights that are really bright. But they really don't have any measurement gear. One cop said he holds a sheet of white paper up to it and if it looks bluish at all, ticket time.
I do like that they have rubber mounts. Can you just wire them straight to the battery or harness or do they need all that relay crap like HID headlights do?
The larger reflector of the 910 probably spreads the light better, but it's also more susceptible to rock damage being a bigger target. And the light output is probably similar.
Ok, I'm listening.... _________________ M N B

It's not due to the blue light.
As a matter of fact nearly every new car and truck being sold in the USA come with HID's standard. Regaudless of what state they are sold or driven in
There's a lot of mis-information out there about HID's. _________________ 1993 K1100RS aka The Shop Whore

And I see blue and purple headlights on the road all the time, which are illegal in CA. BMW cars are often purple. How they can sell them, I'm not sure...
That said, I've see super bright headlights that AREN'T blue or purple. So I'm inclined to believe that some HID lights would be fine. Besides, any tint is actually darkening the illumination, why would you want that? _________________ M N B

110 watt 910's need relays due to the amount of amperage they draw.
the hid's and their reduced power requirements make wiring far simpler. For example on my GS I was able to use the factory canbus wiring and not a single wire had to be cut. True plug and play.
Regarding color, hid's come in a variety of versions. Some blue some not. It depends on the color temp. 4300 is white. 6000 is bluish and so forth. |

Yeah, that's one reason I'm warming up to the idea of a pair of those... Could easily mount em on the engine guards.
Not only that, the lower power draw would be very nice on something with a limited alternator like say an F800GS... _________________ M N B
