Has anyone ever had their rims powder coated?
What did it cost? would you share?
After yet anothert very close call on the way to work yesterday morning, 19 degrees & dark out, I was online checking this place out. " http://www.halocoatings.com "
They called me back in about an hour, but it is PRICEY!!! ??

$150.00 per rim, but then no more " I did not see you" excuses. Solas black film on saddle bags, hyper lights brake light, PIAA bright bulb & Eastern Beaver relay for head light, all gear has reflective piping built in. Pulled out on me form a right side street. More exciting than hot coffee in your lap!

I had to work really hard to clean my stock rims up to make them look good, they are all right now, but would be so much easier to keep clean in powder coating. No black rims thank you.

You need more lighting on the front. The headlight lens was designed for the rider, not for being visible. I have cheapo Wal-mart $15 fog lights on both of my bikes. They have a very wide beam pattern and make the bike much more visible - day or night.

That posdwer coating price is on the high side. Look around.

You can get chrome powder coating. You could probably also get an exact color match wit hthe bike's paint job.

Agreed! More lighting too!
Thanks Drake, looking at lot's of options on the rims, just thought that would be neat in reflective material, almost garish I guess, but definately one off.

How much do they want to powder coat two wheels?

Actually, Bondo, the wheel guy, signed on to the board here. http://ourworld.compuserve.com/homepages/WireWheels/

Mad Brick Rider,
To answer your powder coated rim question, yes, on one of my winter projects a couple of years ago I had the rims powder coated. Of course I had to have them black but they have several different choices of color. It was about $60 a wheel down here in Georgia by Miller's Powder Coating. Good guys! The wheels worked and looked and cleaned up awesome. You do have to take the wheel bearings out of the front wheel which is a royal pain in the you know where. Of course that is not a problem on the rear. I liked it so well that I'm doing that to my 1100 this winter.
Hope that helps!

Not if it saves your bike, your body, or your life! It doesn't seem like too bad of a deal for what you get.

I agree, more lights on the front, I have just fitted a pair of cheapo front fog lights to my LT under the headlight, they are only about 50 x 35mm but it does make a HUGE differance to cars seeing me when lane splitting, they move over rapidly with them on (set them to shine right in the side mirrors) and looking at the lights reflecting back when I come up behind cars they are loads brighter than the headlight.
Im looking at a HI LO HID conversion at the moment on ebay for about £35 from hong kong as i saw a bike with one fitted and it really stood out from the rest of the lights behind me.

I think the good thing about cheapo lights is that they dont' have a super focused beam pattern and just shot light everywhere - thisi is a good thing if being seen is the objective. They're not too bright either - I've never been high-beamed by oncoming traffic at night or hassled by LEOs.
