Can anyone provide a review of the Aeroflow headlight cover for a K1100LT? _________________ Jim

You'll give up a little headlight brightness but not very much.
You'll have four small crircles of that heavy duty velcro stuff on the headlight.
They are pretty thick and would protect your headlight.
I think the K bike headlights are pretty sturdy so don't see the need for them but I wish I'd had one riding through gravel ocnstruction zones in Alaska.

I just got one.
Pros:
1. Fits like a glove, barely noticeable.
2. Does the job.
3. Easy install.
4. Easy to take off for cleaning.
5. Fast shipping.
Cons:
At 65$ it's friggin expensive. _________________ Bane of your existence since July 2006

I found a used in good condition one on the IBMWR site. I think it
was around $20 + shipping. This is one of those farkles that pay
for themselves the first flying duck/rock that they deflect...
They look a little homely, but then form over function, or something... _________________ Kent

Tha't why I can't bring bring myself to put one on - but they are a good sturdy product.
The headlight lenses are pretty sturdy though. The one on my K75RT had a small crack in it when I got the bike and stayed that way until the crack got bigger after my first major gravel hit in AK. It was still OK until I took another good hit coming back down the Cassiar Highway. _________________ 93 LT (x2)

My bike came with one - I don't give it any thought until I wash the bike - then I take it off and clean it well and polish it. It never occurred to me that it might not be aesthetically displeasing.
If you think $65.00 is pricey - check how much you'd have to pay for a new headlight... Just sayin'... _________________ Jim

Thanks for the thoughts. Aeroflow is running a sale now and has some slightly blemished ones at a discount. I figure it will be slightly blemished in no time anyway. _________________ Jim

I own one that came on/with my K1100RS.
Thought it was over kill, 2 months later I got my lens taken out me a rock or sumthin, I did not see it, just heard it. Mine always got dirty & it's one extra thing to clean behind.
$45.00 for a new lens from Chicago BMW. Took FOREVER to get it or 6 weeks. I had to Crazy glue the craked one back together to keep riding.
Real PIA to put a new lens in too. Since I had to remove the cracked/broken one to glue it, reinstall, then do it all over again when the new one came.
I'm hopin I am now pre-disatered for the rest of the bikes life. _________________ 1993 K1100RS that I'd rather be riding FAST!

I have one on the RS, it came with the bike. I like the fact that I really do not have to worry about the headlight lens. As mentioned they are a major PITA to replace. One of my velcro tabs is not sticky anymore, so I need to replace it, but 3 work fine. _________________ 1997 K1100LT

I had one on the LT when a rock thrown out from a tipper trucks rear wheels went through it and the lens. They're ok for small stones and debris but anything sizeable will take it out and your lens with it. The crux of the matter is when replaced the lens and protector I found the lens easy enough to get to and actually cost 2/3 the price of a protector, so you have to work out how much you want to spend. _________________ Fat Ba***d with a K1100LTse

Just wanted to add that in addition to a great product Aeroflow is a classy, mom and pop organization.
They shipped my headlight cover to a house 3 doors away...their error. That day the person who received it did not know who I was so they called the number on the box....aeroflow.
Well the Aeroflow rep called me 3x, called UPS to try to get them to pick it back up, and emailed me to let me know where it was sent.
I simply walked down the street to grab it, and today I received a credit in the mail for my 11.50 shipping that I put out originally.
Classy organization! _________________ Bane of your existence since July 2006

I didn't look at the blems, but mine has held up quite well - no complaints. I can't say that it has saved me from replacing a lens, but I can't say that it hasn't, either. I think it's easier to pop the the HLC and clean it than it is to replace a lens. _________________ Jim

That's $45.00 for the lens from Chicago - when they decide to ship it. I think you'd be shocked to see what the dealer charges to replace a lens - it's a hell of a lot more than the price of the HLC.

I hope I am not telling something that is already commonly known. The headlight lens on an LT can be quickly replaced by removing the plate right below the head light and working from behind the fairing and from below loosen things and remove the old lens through the space where the plate was.
It's been a few years since I did this and I can't remember all the procedure but my lens is still in there. It's a bit tight in there so it will test your character.
I hope this saves somebody some time.

I have searched the aeroflow web site and can not find ordering information for new velcro dots. Any one know anything about that? _________________ 1997 K1100LT

I talked with them about the velcro on the phone. They seem to have done a lot of experimenting to get the right combination of velcro. I bet if you call them they will send you some. _________________ Jim

The stuff is called Dual Lock by 3M. Small packs of rectangles (that could be cut into dots) are available at most hardware stores for a few bucks...I've even seen it at Target.
Paige would probably send you replacements, but I just bought some of it cuz it was easier at the moment. _________________ tlp
