That was great. Those of us up to our sphincters in snow appreciate the mind trek.
Thanks, FD. _________________ tlp

Awesome report and stunning pictures!!
I regret for taking a wrong curve and not rode the CA33, as JO recommended before my trip to California last september.....
I love this pic, with the Bixby Bridge, built in 1932!

Though similar in contruction, the Bixby Bridge if farther north than that one - which is the Big Creek Bridge.
Here's the Bixby Bridge from another coast ride in 2007:

Thanks for the report and pics...especially the ones that show sunshine. I forgot what that looked like! Thanks to the typical overcast sky and rain.
I've got to ride that coast again. Preferably before the road gets bogged down with Winnie's. Anyway, Santa Cruz to Astoria was great in Mar 2006...except for the blinding snow storm that forced me to do a 180 back to Willits, CA. Fortunately I was only 3 miles north of Willits when the road turned white with 1+" of snow. |

The key is to run the coast mid-week when school is in session. January is great if the weather works out and you've got heated gear. Early May has a few more cars but the weather is warmer.
After I bought my K1100RS in Malibu, I rode it home in July. Went mid-week so it wasn't too bad. There were lots of bikes (to pass ) though as some race at Laguna Seca had just finished. _________________ 93 LT (x2)

There's really no reason to know about 58 unless you have a bike. I dsicovered it by accident right after they'd repaved it several years ago. I was just looking for a way to get to the Palm Springs area rom the coast without going through LA. Now I take it almost everytime. _________________ 93 LT (x2)
