My mechanic is recommending switching over from Michelins to Metzelers as I replace them. This would probably leave me with a Michelin front and Metzeler rear for at least a year.

That wouldn't matter - but having used Metzler's for years, I am now much happier with the Michelin's. I'd stick with Michelin.

The dealer always tried to sell me Metzler's also - I guess they have a better mark up on them or something. I now order tires online, mount and balance them myself.

We're not starting another tire thread here, are we???

Echo The Grid, Avon rear and Pilot Road II combo allows me to run radials which after 3700 mile still look like new. Got the idea for this combo from an experienced KLT rider who's already run a couple of sets.

Mine have over 4k on them and also still look like new.

When buying the tires the order was botched so I have an additional set. Laughing

I was a little disappointed with my Metzelers when they arrived. I was expecting deeper tread for my money. They seem to work OK, but I don't push them on the twisties.

+1 on the Pilot Road II. I have had Dunlops and Metz. Just like JO, Dunlops never felt connected to the road and Metzlers didn't last for chit.

And now is time to me to change the front tire of the KLT.
In the size 110/80-18 and 58H specification here in Brazil I only found Bridgestone BT21 110/80-18 58W.
Anyone have experience with this tire?
I'll have a michelin rear for more 5k miles and a new one in front.
Guilherme.
