Is around or under 7,500 used.
Has ABS.
Under 20k miles.
Full system cases.
120+hp
Some sort of fairing or windscreen. ie not naked.
Year 2002+
Thoughts?
PS I am not a brand snob. I am a quality snob. I need a bike I can put a TON of miles on. _________________ Bane of your existence since July 2006

IMO ABS is a mixed blessing. (At least on our K11s.) It'll save your bacon on some occasions but on others it will roll you through a stop sign when not necessary. When I leave my house I come up over a sharp rise right before a stop sign that lightens the rear and the ABS II on my 94 RS always kicks in when it, IMO, shouldn't. It's weird but the more immature ABS I on the LT does not do that.
On the other hand, it's kept me from taking some spiils I deserved and I'll give it credit for that.
I'm of the opinion that the ABS I (ignoring CPU failure rates) actually functions better in the real world than the ABS II. _________________ 93 LT (x2)

There are some good buys on the Internet BMW Riders web site.

This one was 8 G's but there are others too.
You would wnat to check which generation had the most FD problems but I think the first gen ones were OK.
Should be TON's of other bikes for sale real soon. _________________ 1993 K1100RS that I'd rather be riding FAST!

I am seriously looking at RS bikes (GT is out of my price range) but the thing that scares me is the yearly maintainence.
Much of it I can do myself, but I'm told the brake modulators need to be flushed at the tune of 300$ annually. _________________ Bane of your existence since July 2006

Believe it or not I might be leaning towards an 09 or leftover 08 KLR. _________________ Bane of your existence since July 2006

LOTS of aftermarket parts & accessories for KLRs. And much more manuverable, "nimble" compared to K1100 Panzer wagons. |

My KLR was probably my favorite bike ever. I haven't had the brick for long, but I logged a lot more miles on my KLR than I did on my Connie.
There's no thought involved in that bike, it's such a simple beast that you just throw a leg over it and go. Awesome in the city, awesome in the twisties, awesome in the dirt, and great for long hauls. The seat isn't the most comfortable in the universe, but you can move all over the thing to break up the ride, and you can get a much better seat than the stock one.
It could use some upgrades, but what bike doesn't get farkles? Braided brake lines, progressive shocks (not sure if that's still necessary with the new ones), and replacing those stock hand guars with some from Acerbis or something and you've got one hell of a bike.
Hard cases and a top case, and perhaps a taller windshield and you're gone for weeks on end. _________________ 1993 K1100RS

I love the K1200RS, but I can't get past that yellow checkerboard paint job.
Call me vain, but it is a monstrosity. _________________ Bane of your existence since July 2006

The bikes you are looking at are at the "dreamer" end of the spectrum.
I am looking at selling the motobrick and doing with an 08 KLR.
Gotta tighten the belt. _________________ Bane of your existence since July 2006
