Hi there,
I would like to know more about my oxygen sensor (or lambda sensor or ECO sensor (yes I’ve seen people refer to it as an ECO sensor!)
The main thing I want to know is what the specifications of the BMW k1100RS one are.
At this moment, mine has been replaced with an “universal” one from Lambdapower.co.uk. But I have the sneaking suspicion that it might not perform as it should. I have done some digging and found various websites on the matter, even with BMW - motorcycle references, but none of them goes back further than say 1999. And my little baby is from 1994.
Here are some links to sides I’ve found and which have the bmw-motorbike stuff on them….
http://www.ngkntk.co.uk/working/FileLib/Lambda%20Catalogue.pdf
http://www.lambdapower.co.uk/partsearch/motorbike_sensors.asp
any help is much aprecieated! |

I've continued my search, and found out that IF there is a bosch number on the sensor, (I threw mine out when I replaced it) it should start with: 0258 (that is the group coding for the lambda/oxygen sensors from bosch)
anyone here able to have a look? |

I do not fully understand your post.
Do you have an extra one?
Is that number you gave me THE number that is on the K1100XX sensor? |

That looks like a Bosch part number, because the BMW part number for the oxygen sensor is 11 70 1 464 492. And, if you notice, it DOES start with 0258.

Someone is missing the point here. I understand the 0 258 and so number just fine, but if you would read all the posts, you might see that "dave n" write something strange (" I extra one" I have no idea what that means... and so i asked: " Do you have an extra one (one as in one lambda sensor to spare)" ). Not to have an extra number.
In the mean time I found all the information (using the fully understood 0259003251 number) I need to start the ordering process with Bosch.
So please Phil explain. Why did you write DOES like that? |

Hi, tmoons,
I wrote it for emphasis. You had written that the Bosch number should begin with "0258". When you asked Dave if he had given you "THE" (emphasis yours) number on the sensor, I replied it looks like the Bosch part number because it isn't the BMW part number and it "DOES" (emphasis mine) begin with the 0258 which, your research shows, it should begin with if it is the correct type of oxygen sensor.
I understand you live in The Netherlands or in Belgium. Where? I have some good friends in Belgium and my late wife's family came from a town in Noord Holland.

Make that" I have an extra one - from a 1994 K1100LT - the # on it is 0 258 003 251."
Shouldn't have taken a look at the K11og site and tried to post when I was already late for work.
Not trying to sell either. _________________ Dave Norris KOG 248

I thought so, but wanted to make sure.
I found out that the replaced this number with a new number but also found out there are a milion cars using this exact sensor |

Ok here we go. The result of my research.
The sensor in our bikes is the 0 258 003 251. this does exist on the Bosch e-cat. But it also tells you that it has been replaced by the 0 258 986 506.
This 0 258 986 506 also replaces the
0 258 003 051
and
0 258 005 051
The main difference I can find in them is the cable length. (there is not much information on the website.)
I called a local Bosch shop, and gave them the numbers. He could not find the 0 258 003 051, the 0 258 005 051 or the 0 258 003 251 but did find the 0 258 986 506 and told me this was 106 euro ex-tax.
The Bosch website also gives you the possibility to search OEM numbers and that give for the 0 258 986 506 this:
BMW 11 78 1 464 492 (K1100RS sensor number!!)
CITROËN 1628 AA
CITROËN 1628 7R
FIAT 46408190
FIAT 46422649
FIAT 46434552
FIAT 59635160
FORD 616 9693
FORD 87AB 9F472 AA
LANCIA 59635160
NISSAN 226A0 0W001
NISSAN 226A1 0W002
PEUGEOT 1628 AA
PEUGEOT 1628 7R
TOYOTA 89465 20300
Furthermore can you look for related vehicles. This is an almost endless lists (ALL models of 1 brand are mentioned).
So you should also be able to pick one of these sensors up from a breakers yard for almost nothing.
Hope this helps! |
