At age 20, while riding a horse, and he threw his head back into my nose.
I thought I was going to bleed to death at the time.

Well 26 years of being a mouth breather might be behind me now.

Yesterday I went under the knife and had a Septoplasty and Turbinate Reduction

It repaired my badly deviated septum and removed some parts that were damaged beyond repair.

Today the inside of my nose feels like a 1000 bloody paper cuts and the urge to blow my nose is almost unbearable. Crying or Very sad

So a cup of coffee and a Percocet for breakfast and it's not so bad right now. Cool

Pre-surgery CT

Wow, that's some CT scan! I hope the pain quickly vanishes and that you heal up quick.

I hear that when the Doc removes the stints it's like being hit in the nose with a 2x4.

Severly intence, but brief.

Then he pulls the one out of the other side.

Crying or Very sad

Had a 30% turbinate reduction here, but with a uvulectomy and tonsils out thrown in at the same time (for mild-bad OSA)... but no splints, I think they did the "stapling" thing, about 3 years ago now - big difference, well worth it.

At least you'll be able to breathe thru your mouth ... I ended up for about 72hrs, couldn't sleep as I'd either nuke the nose or scorch out the throat, and even codeine was useless as it put me to sleep as well.

Take care with the helmet for a while, too (flip-up BMW was a godsend).

Ok, today it feels like dull cuts unless I touch my nose, but mostly it feels like I have HUGE hard buggers in there and OMG I want to blow them out. Crying or Very sad

Mouth breathing at night has made my throat sore (poor Steve Twisted Evil ) so I started on Cepacol lozenges.

It's better today.
Only a little bloody snot.
I slept well last night for the first time since surgery.

Went for a 200 mile ride yestrday, 25F - 37F degrees, the cold air made my eyes water if I breathed thru my nose.

Tomorrow the Doc pulls the stents out. Crying or Very sad
