The '94 RS that I got with "new tires" are worn quite flat. Add the fact that they are dated in '02, I think it is time for new tires.
I do very few miles per year, so "stickiness" is more important than wear.
Anyone have any suggestions....
Thanks,

well if you want lots of traction the roadsmart tires that I bought are
smooth and lots of traction.butt they do wear fast look at one of my post on tires.there is a picture of my front tire after 1500 miles.
still soft and has lots of traction. but i think I going to go with the Michelin Pilot Road 2, next time because I want more milage... but I'm glad that I tried the roadsmarts. I do like the way they handle just wish they would last longer. _________________ In the words of the stones

The wear on the tire might be because there are very few twistys and alot of straight road for my commute.
or the tire is to soft " but wet or dry more than enough traction for me". _________________ In the words of the stones

I'm still loving my Avon Storms. Just be sure to run them at 38psi and not 40. Makes you bike corner like a K1200s _________________ "Still can't find 6th gear" 94 K1100LT |

Seem the thing with most dual compound tyres (tires) have to run them at a higher pressure that the manual says or they do wear flat, did see a post about the pressures somewhere.

The manual is the last place to look for tire pressures. The manual was written for the tire technology of 20 years ago.
Go with what's the max on the tire and drop a few off of that. I think it's 42 maxon the PR2S. I started at 40/40 and playing around have ended up 36ish front and 38ish rear. _________________ 93 LT (x2)

Altho I totally love this tire for touring and good overall handling, it's not what I would call a "sticky" tire at all. *shrug*
Front 120/70ZR17
Rear 160/60ZR18
I would suggest any of these for high performance tires.
METZELER MEZ4 or MEZ3
Bridgestone BTO-16 Rear will run you around $200, Front about $165
Dunlop Sportmax both about the same price _________________ 1993 K1100RS aka The Shop Whore

I was a fan of the BTs until my last BT020 cupped and gave me some SERIOUS headshake on the front under hard braking. NOT a good feeling.
The PR2s will wander a bit on the straights until you find the right pressure but feel absolutely PLANTED on the hard turns.

Oh no you didn't go there!
If you're not crashing, you're not trying hard enough.
I guess blaming my tires is off the table now?

Thanks for all the replies....the Michelins look good. Metzeler only has the Z6 for our size. Michelins are also a little more expensive (but may be worth it).
Anyone want to weigh in?

You'll get more miles out of the Michelins so in the end they're most likely cheaper. _________________ 93 LT (x2)

Y'all
I mentioned the psi for a good reason. I have had a couple of tires (Metzlers and Avons) that when inflated to 40-42 psi give the front end a wandering, unstable feeling on the highway.
My mechanic suggested that I try running them at 38 psi. Problem solved!
It's not like there
38 is a lot less air than 40psi but it sure made a difference on how the bike felt while cruising at high speeds.
I'll be putting another set of Avons on the LT when it again needs new tires.
My 2 cents. _________________ "Still can't find 6th gear" 94 K1100LT |

I'm sure I'll do some compare shopping when the time comes. I just wanted to give the Avons the thumbs up. _________________ "Still can't find 6th gear" 94 K1100LT |
