Greetings all,
I am planning to put a set of mirror tethers on the 93 KRS. What is the technique to remove the mirrors....(I hear that they just 'pop' off?)
Thanks,
Steve in Santa Fe

GRab the outer end and pull them back. They'll pop right off.

Snap off to make them more crash damage resistant, I suppose? Or Not...

Without the leashes though, more damage to the VERY expensive mirror.

The bottom of mine looks like some one playes friggin shuffle board with them. They are all touched up & all, but still ! Heck, I'd liek to coat them with Line X truck bed liner ALA Drake, but have not got around to it.

The roads around SE WI are so beat to heck from the winter that I had to resort to a bungee cord inside the mirror. Tied it to the mirror signal frame, then through the hole in the fairing mount, then wound it around the mount in there. Kinde of a PITA, but I cannot be pulling off when they keep coming loose.
Has enough snap to hold the mirror, but it will roll over if the bike gets knocked down or god forbid I drop it.

Very Happy
Technique #1
Bump the mirror with any part of your body while doing anything near the bike. Works everytime. Evil or Very Mad DAMHIK

Technique #2
Drop the bike on any surface at any speed including just parking it on soft ground overnight. Works everytime. Shocked DAMHIK

Yes, it does make them more crash worthy in that the force applied to the mirror is not transmitted to the fairing thus cracking said fairing.

Smart eh?

Putting then back on smoothly takes partice. FWIW I've got it down pat. Crying or Very sad

Don't know if you have an RS or an LT - helps if you make that info part of your sig. If you have an RS, the "snaps" that hold the mirror on are replaceable. If you have an LT, they are not.

At least the LT mirrors are much harder to knock off - until the clips start wearing out... Rolling Eyes

mine rt one was off when I got my K1100rs and the base plate was bent I odered new clips and tried to straiten the plate as close as I could but could not get the mirror to stay on. So i took the lenns out and drilled
the metal bar at the base of the mirror used a little larger drill bit than the sheet metal screw and with the mirror held on the base I drilled a 1/8 hole in the base plate an screwed the damn thing on.
works great and I don't have to worrie about it falling off.
If you want I can take a pic of what I've done.

I hope this helps. Just one screw through the metal brace and no more
mirror falling off. But, Doing this might break your mirror in the bike falls. I don't know what would break, The screw or the bracket.
