|
|
Hi
Purchased a Oregon Scientific Action Cam for my europetrip this summer.
Thinking about mouningplaces, crachbar on the left side or faring near the left mirror or extension of handlebar.
Could imagine that mounting on handlebar would give the clearest view and maybee less exposure to vibrations that could break the cam.
BTW. Thought of making some movies for riding some twisty alppasses in swiss.
Any thoughts / tips on this.
BTW2. how long will the battery last ( appr. minutes of movie at high resolution ). Have 2Gb installed.

I have one and tried the crashbar (K1100LT) but the vibration kept switching the camera off.
Haven't got round to trying any other locations yet. Seems quite tricky to find a location thats easy to mount the camera but has an unobstructed view past the fairing/mirrors/screen.
Cheers,
Ray. |

Same experience here mountiing on crashbar, though in my case it seesed to function compleatly.
Got a new on warrenty ( w/o telling about the mounting ).
Tried yesterday evening how long a set of battery last, was appr. 2hr10 min.
Have an idea mounting it on the faring just inside the mirror. Need a bit of drilliing and forming a holder. Hate drilling in the faring so it's time grab a beer and let the imagination flow, beflore playing with tools and document the mounting with camera.

Under the headlight?? Or fashion a mount to utilise blank switches next to the map light (K1100LT) ? _________________

Nice mounting on the upper-front part of the faring.
You are shooting trough the windscreen, great need to clear the screen?
Have noticed that the screen and upper faring are moving in bumps, and problem with sharpness of the movie? |

That's the satnav, I don't have a cam. I customised a Ramball mount and yes it does move, but no more so than when mounted on the bars. Anywhere on the bike is going to be subject to some movement, under the headlight maybe less so. That's where my driving light is fitted and watching the beam at night it doesn't move noticeably. _________________

Hi Adrian and all.
Been on this list for some times now and got many great tips and tricks.
Thank you all.
Will mount the cam behind the windshield today and make a test. 270 km ride tomorrow with MC training ( handling ) class included.
The AC2K can record 2 hours with 650x400 30fps. (45% of 2xAA battery energy )
It will be fun to record EP-tours and more alp-passes with both hands on the handlebar, and not as the more challanging way today holding the cam with left hand and handle the bike with right hand.
BTW: mounted my GPS on a rebuild mirror thats mounted in the non-used mirror mount near the clutch level. It's a Medion with MP3, bluetoth for cellphone conrol and more.
BTW2 Adrian if I can't modifie the engine and frame asa on the R100RS( krausser 4V ) then I "must" modifie for support tools. |

PS. just upploading the movie 250Mb .avi and will be avalible in short.
First impression, clear view a lot of engine sound and more.
Didn't realized I was counter steering in all tight bends.
More movies and picts tomorrow. |
