I've just bought a 2nd hand autocom rider to pillion unit for out trip this summer. It needs to be powered from the bike's electrics, where would be the best place to connect so that it's only live with the ignition on? By the look of the leads which are quite short maybe somewhere near the battery?

Cheers

Adrian

Look for an unused round white connector in the relay box. One of the wires on that is switched and should work fine for your needs. (The white connector is for the BMW add-on alarm.)

+1 on the alarm connector. That's were I tapped in my Starcom. Originally had it in my tank bag but got tired of all the wires and such. I have it mounted under the seat now with the helmet connectors coming out the side. Went to Radio Scrap and bought a 3.5mm patch cord with a 90° connector to run from the stereo to the Starcom. Now I can listen to my tunes without removing the cover over the radio.

Hi Adrian,

Tapped mine into the brake light switch wire - or you could take a feed from the Starter motor relay - but better to save that in case you need to fit a relay for later on, something like extra lights for example.

Thanks all, I chose the tail light feed and all seems to be well.
