Why let it drop?
I find that sweet spot, squeeze the tank with my thighs, wrap my fingers around the grips like my loves hair and ...........

| Think this comes from pressurising of injection system - what you are getting is the venting of the tank???? |

Mine did, but the handlebar stiffening mod (surprisingly) and heavy barends helped a ton. _________________ Bane of your existence since July 2006

I had a buzz around 3600 to 3900, beyond that it was as smooth as silk. Turned out one of the down pipes was practically detatched and blowing like a good'n. Replacement exhaust and now it reverts to type, buzzes around 5000. Still a peach of an engine tho'. _________________

It seems to me there is no consensus on where the buzz is coming from. It doesn't seem to me to be handle bars. I changed my oil to mobil1 with no change. (I was surprised to see that the recommended 4 quarts brings the level right to the top of the glass.) If I had an exhaust leak I would expect the sound to be constant. I can live with the buzz but wondered what experience others had.
This question is beginning to feel like the old joke that starts "Do you smoke after sex?" _________________ Jim

Jim,
Now that I installed the heavy model of Throttlemeister, "buzzing" is less.
I feel it around 3200-3300 rpms. _________________ John & Cathy

Isn't Throttlemeister a throttle lock? _________________ Jim

Yes, a throttle "lock"
A HEAVY throttle lock.
Heavier (in my hand, ballpark kind of weight evaluation) than the OEM weights that the TM replaced. Just a secondary benefit. _________________ John & Cathy

What bars do you have on your K? In the second photo they look like K75C bars. Did you have to change any cables or the brake hose? |

Thread drift.
What do you think causes the buzz and where is it coming from? _________________ Jim

The Buzzz…
The buzzing is generally caused by a source, this source in our Kase (hahahah) is usually the crank/pistons/ignition side of things.
When these vibrations are generated (they are generated in any 4 in line, but due to the design and the way it is hung in the frame it is more noticeable) the find there way thru the frame to other parts of the bike (and you butt/hands/feet).
When you have a handle bar that likes the feed it gets, it will start to resonate and you handlebars “buzz” happily along.
When you change the resonating frequency of the handle bars, you could get rid of the buzz….
Other things that might help:
Vacuum leaks eliminated
TB Clean
TB sync
HT lead replacement
Sparkplug replacement en proper gapping
Valve clearance
Crankshaft (including pistons) balancing
Clutch balancing
Frame-engine and frame gearbox connection
Frame-engine/gearbox spacing
Right torque settings for various screws
All bearings in engine up to spec. |

I just had mine tuned by BMW Park Lane, at massive cost. Boy was it worth it - fuel consumption and power are now smile, rather than frown material.
However, the vibration is part of our lives, and always will be. The answer is to try and keep it at 4K RPM all the time, or buy a k75 _________________ 1992 K1100RS - Red and gold. |
