You mean without physically going to a dealer? Then mail order through:

MaxBMW http://www.maxbmwmotorcycles.com/ is the dealer that I mail order through frequently- pretty rapid delivery

Others will have additional input

BTW, nice bike! and year! Cool

Hi, Art,
There are only 2 places I know for bobbins. Your dealer has or can order the bobbins for you. You need 6 "spring" bobbins and 18 "normal bobbins. You can also replace (or not) the 24 washers and 24 spring clips which hold the bobbins in place. These bobbins from BMW are aluminum and will again wear out after another 50k miles or so. REMEMBER, DO NOT place the spring bobbins in the same location a spring bobbin cane out of. Advance them each one hole. The ex-spring bobbin holes already have a groove worn by the spring. Sive the new ones a different hole to start wearing on, or you will be replacing the bobbins again in a much shorter time. The second place I know which will sell you bobbins is www.motobins.co.uk Their bobbins are made by Grimeca and are steel, They are considerablt cheaper than the BMW parts, but being steel, will they sacrifice themselves so as not to have to replace the complete rotor and carrier?

hey Art - welcome to K11.

They are outrageous. You'll save a bit by ordering online.... I think the euro is still up and the dollar is still down...

I picked this up from an old BMW K rider from Calgary about eight years ago: Insert some rubber grommets into the holes where the disc mounts to the hub. They help to cushion the disc without restricting it's movement.I've done it on two K1100s and they seem to do the trick. It's a lot easier and cheaper than changing the bobbins.
If anyone's interested, I'll try to find the parts package to confirm the size that fits.

Don

Chicago BMW still has the 20% discount. It is just not advertised as they were scolded by BMW. As always, they tend to move a little slow. Another couple of weeks should not be a problem unless your bobbins are breaking in half and falling out on their own.

When I replaced mine last year I did not replace the washers. Bobbins were totally shot (78K on them) but the washers were fine. I also used the old clips over. I had to tweek a few of them with pliers but none have fallen out in the last 5,000 miles.
