we rolled around the cascades this weekend...
some of the roads we wanted to ride were still closed for snow and slides and generally other impassable excuses...
so to keep it simple i bring to you quartsville road as suggested by bosozoku and some other fine pashnits...
http://tinyurl.com/nksqpg
once again we were in the soup leaving hillsboro or... rained like a moe all the way to woodburn or... then is was generally foggy and misty with the occasional sun break... at least thats what the weather folks call it up here... sun break... riiiiiiight...
or 20 eastbound from salem or...
detroit lake...
santiam creek...
in was looking for fr11... was told it would come up quick... stopped here to try to figure out if we missed it... there were little people fishing in the creek... more about this fr11 later...
there were giant lava beds everywhere...
sun break...
there was moss everywhere too...
wild irises...
unknown specimens...
lorenes cafe... it was quite possibly the 10 best breakfasts ever...
here we go... quartzville road... green peter lake...
little person fishing way down in the gulch...
the road follows a creek...
about a lane wide with the occasional turnout...
big giant rocks... wondering how they got there... rolled down the hill or was glacier melt... humm...
this is one exquisite creek... there was not traffic on the road... but along the side of the road were many campers and fishermen... its really cool down in there...
logging...
we really likes this road... it was nice in the beginning... had to be extra careful though... lotts of it had moss on it...
staring down sasquatch...
moss and ferns rule the cascades...
rolling...
getting into it now... the goat has gone from goat 0 to goat 5...
moss and pine needles... digging it...
a soon to be wash out... there were many...
this was common... tree down... buzzsaw that moe... lets roll...
waterfalls were many... some a trickle... some in full rage...
scenic...
whoa...
whoa... whoa... whoa...
lotts o evidence of slide fixing and slide containment going on...
ok... just where is that fr11 off or 22... its right here... the sign says straight creek... its were we stopped and saw those little people fishing... crazy aint it...
we decided to roll over to the yamhill or area... we know there a donkeys over there...
brush fire by silverton or...
yamhill or is wine country...
donkeys...
ponies...
henry hagg lake...
saw mill below the lake...
there you go...

Been on those roads before. Pretty area. Oregon is green west of the Cascade summit (moss, ferns and algae). _________________ Jethro Tull: Thick as a Brick!
