I am planning on riding around the nation this coming month. Did the major spline check in April and had to replace one needle bearing race on the inside Final Drive pivot.
However June 15th I notice the rear wheel could move side to side, that the rear tire was hitting the driveshaft housing... Hmmmm.

Good thing that I was able to ride on the official Ride To Work Day, eh? Pulled the final drive off and yep the needle bearing was err in needles. So I tried calling Ted Porter's BeemerShop. Keep forgetting that in most place in the United States that Mondays is a day off.
Ordered the bushings on line and they came by Friday. Installed the brass bushings and outer timken bearing race.

I was supposed to use Locktite 207 or some sort of number. However couldn't find it on the shelves at Auto stores. Opted to go with Blue Locktite and monitor the FD instead.

So I think the bike is ready to take a ride around the States!

I have never used synthetic oil. However I really don't want to change oil 3 times in the next month so I have opted for the Mobil 1 15W50...
So my question is how good is the oil filter for an extended tour of 9600 miles?

Yes, most likely more. I change mine on 10,000 mile intervals(easy to remember) though I'm sure it could easily do 12.
