Hi All,
Picked up a '97 K1100LT on Tues. First non-test post here.
Already owe the Duck a beer and Saltcreek lord knows what.
Been looking for a new bike for a while. Had a brief fling test riding and thinking of ST1100's (they DO have a neat web site) as well as debating which Goldwing, but a freind in Appleton found this screaming deal so all thoughts of ST's and GW's were forgotten.
It has a Corbin seat, no radio (I'drather have my Ipod) and a Works Performance shock came with it. As well as some bumps and bruises from the PO's garage. I put the shock on yesterday but still have to play with adjustments-not happy with it yet.
800 miles so far so just getting a bit comfortable. Nice so far. Enough for now.

Welcome to our jolly little group. No body takes each other too seriously here and site is a good source of information about K1100LTs or motobricks.
Your new K is the Basic model which did not come with radio, painted luggage, engine protection bars or heated grips. I have one just like it.
The heated grips and protections bars are a good addition.
Screamin' deal huh? How many miles on it?

Nice looking ride there! Welcome to the group.
I guess the "basic" package didn't even include reflectors or emblems on the luggage?
Those are easy enough to add though.
Good luck with your brick! _________________ Steve

Welcome as well.
My '97 was also a basic basic unit. I have added a radio, but listen to my mp3 on long trips anyway.
The lids on mine did have the reflector and roundel. I'd bet that the lid cover was replaced and didn't come with them. _________________ Ride safe.

Wecome to the K11OG.
The people here help me out alot, I didn't know that much about K bikes when I joined the group. I still have more to learn. But I ride my 1993 K1100RS to work every day 52 mile round trip and love it.
I've never taken it to a dealer for any repair, With the help of the forum I've done all the repairs myself. Good luck _________________ In the words of the stones

Thanks guys,
All sorts of plans--the devil is in the execution!
First and foremost is the head light relay upgrade. After seeing all the electronics under the "hood" thought there might be factory ones but was that quickly answered in tech resources by the duck's write. I have done this to every car, truck and motorcycle I've had in the past 20 yrs and hands down THE most easiest, highest benefit, bang for buck you can do. The amount of extra light even a regular bulb throws-let alone some super one- when fed a n extra volt or volt and a half due to elimination of running the power thru the switch and tiny gauge wires is unbelievable. And bulb life is not effected as far as I can tell. The bukb just finally runs at design output.
Have some cheapo fog lites bought yrs ago for a car but used. The GL500's stator didn't have enough pwr to run them. Not real effective as fog help but just want for conspicuity(?). Wiring and mounts are 95% of install so when I get something better I can switch quickly. Had contemplated the fender or caliper bolts so of course Owrstich and the Duck had already done it. Eventually the good flame throwers will hang from under the headlite.
Bike came with Works Permance shock so I installed that. Still fiddling with adjustments.
Then there's a GPS perhaps and lord knows whatelse.
Not into chrome :-0
Appreciate all the BTDT help available. Guess by now everything has happened or been tried at least once.
Thanks again
