Looking for a set of K-Guard Heat shields and a set of lower Baker wind wings for a '93 L11LT. Or does someone have photos of the K-Guards they would be willing to share so that I could fabricate some? Thanks.

BB,

Check out this thread on a K-Guard fabrication effort. Tony has them available and for sale.

Rod - you've had those on for awhile now - can you tell us if you notice much difference as far as heat?

Well Jim,

To be honest, I have removed them, for now. I haven't been riding very much awaiting a seat repair. My initial impression still stands. They do trap the heat but I found that I got more heat on my lower legs than I liked. They seemed to act a bit like radiators.

I have just purchased a roll of 'Johnny Blanket', and plan to put some down on the bike. I will 'line' the K-Guards when I do and I will give them another try.

I will report back at that point.

If you're going to insulate the K guards you can buy some 2" foilbacked self-adhesive plumbing pipe wrap at the hardware store. I've used that on my LT side panels.

I purchased some of the Ducks 2" pipe tape an put it on the inside of the K-Guards and my side panels. I will get the k-Guards reinstalled and report back. It may be a while, still waiting on my seat.

I finally got my seat back and rode the K to the Beemer Bash in Arkansas over the 4th weekend. Temps were in the 90's.

With the insulation tape on the inside of the K-guards they were a lot cooler. Still some heat but warm not hot. I had also put some on the side covers so most of the heat vented out further back.

So with that mod the k-guards worked pretty well.
