Hi,

I'm new to this forum and also new to BRICKS. I would like to introduce Myself.

I have enjoyed the information and personalities. I look forward to meeting you guys and gals.

I recently (2months ago) purchased (cheap) a 1993 K1100LT. At my age I needed something a little more comfortable than my previous ride. (83 Honda V65 Magna).

I've ridden since I was a young, started on a Honda Trail 50 back in the 70's.

I'm a Senior Field Service Engineer, so tinkering is my passion. I've changed the tranny and rear end oils. (for synthetic) Added the Cruise control, a gift from my kids for fathers day. I have a Corbin and Iridium plugs on the way.

I'm in Allen, TX it was 102 the other day as I was going to the title office, discovered the baking syndrome. Promptly went to Home Depot and installed the "Johnny Blanket Mod" and manual fan switch last night.

Put my plate on today, but it was only 83. Still quite a difference in the temperature on a 1.5hr ride.

I'm planning on a trip from Allen to middle Georgia In a few weeks to visit my mother. Kids are all grown and 2 are gone, 1 is still in the roost. 1st married, 2nd engaged to a Marine Sgt., 3rd is a Lcpl Marine working on aircraft, like his dad in the USAF and His grandpa did in the USN. Really looking forward to a long ride.

I have no problems traveling in my "cage" 800 miles. Would it be feasible to do that trip in 1 day? Or what would be realistic?

I am really enjoying this bike.

Welcome to the site mate.

Have to say I have never saw a motobrick with floorboards before!

From the looks of your pics, you did some nice work putting that K back together.

Welcome sdaniel. Looks like you havea good start.

I'm new here to, just got my K last month. Have done the head lite relay, CC, and fog lite mods. Should be OK for a while. You know more than me.

One thing on posting images: the last img needs a (/) slash: [/img] took me a while to figure that out.

Sounds like we have some things in common. Though my kids are all gone--they never seem to really leave--- financially !

800 miles is doable if you have worked up to it. Stop every 120-150 miles for gas/stretch (I need a potty stop by then anyway) 15 hrs would be pretty close.

Have good ride where ever you go.

Hot enough for you yet? "Brick oven baked" huh?

The crew is pretty harmless here- just keep your hands and feet inside the vehicle at all times and they probably won't bite.

Welcome, my pillion would love that floorboard mod as well. We were out for a ride the other night and she was telling my how her foot didn't set well on the pegs.
I personally think that it was the side bags not letting her put her feet further back, but I still got her out for a ride.

As far as 800 miles in a day, like Mike said, work you way up to it but it is easily doable.
You might even consider some hiway pegs on the engine bars so you can stretch you legs out when cruising. I've got a set on my '95 and love them for going down the hiway.

Thanks for all the warm welcomes!

The floor boards I think are going to need a little of adjustment/modification . Of course they were there when I got it. The left side is just below the exhaust header. If I put too much weight on the right board it contacts. Pretty comfortable riding, I'll take some pics of the bracket He made.

The previous owner may have been a member here, I don't know. His name was Peter Feresten, He died from cancer in 2007. He had the bike from 99 to 07, then His wife gave it to the fellow I purchased it from. He also has cancer and needed the money for meds.

There are a couple of things the brick still needs;

1. the left crash bar
2. the under seat hardware that goes in the middle, it has the scissor hinge on it. I have the hinge on the frame but nothing on the seat.
3. a tool kit. or comparable.

Hope you enjoy your brick.

Lot's of good people here, they will help when you need it, and yes, you will need it / them when you own a brick.

Riding 800 in a day is all up to you. Don't rush it, let it flow, feel it come, you can make it.
I ran 818 miles in 13 hours flat getting back from TN last month. Ran into some boys with real good electronics and asked them if they mind if I shadowed them. They was cool, and we smoked some slab for a bit. Not my favorite type of riding but I wanted to get hope before dark. I felt good and could have went another 3 -4 hours easy.
