Anyone up for Autumn Foliage in the White Mountains of NH?
Jim (Saltcreek) and I are looking to see who is interested in great Fall colors, LOT of twisty roads and good food. We are thinking of the weekend of October 3 & 4 for possible peak foliage. BTW, we do have some fun roads up here:
http://www.flickr.com/photos/21435188@N07/sets/
Being rank newbys at this we need to know the following:
1) Would anyone be interested in that date?
2) And those that are interested- do you want to stay in a motel -or- cabins -or- camp (tents) -or..........
........I am very willing to have anyone that makes the trip stay at my house in Sugar Hill. We have a couple of spare bedrooms with a queen size bed in each, a finished basement with two fold-out couches, lots of floor space and a back lawn for any tent dwellers. Oh, and your bike will sleep in our heated garage.
If some prefer a motel or cabin we need to know ASAP since foliage season is very busy here.
We will supply the food! (what that will be is still up in the air)
So do we have any takers or are we gonna' let the west coast crowd have all the fun with their crabs?
Let us know........(post ??? here or PM me) _________________ John & Cathy

Hi, John,
Count me in! I went to the Hungry Mother II, plan to go to Hungry Dungee I, and I wouldn'r want to miss Hungry Lobsta I! I'll pack a sleeping bag if necessary, but I'd prefer to not have to pack my tent. I haven't been in your part of the country during the autumn since moving to Florida after my father died (1956). _________________ Ride Safe,

I'm game with enough notice.
I'm a hotel/cabin kind of guy now. Not opposed to camping but my back might be. _________________ Bane of your existence since July 2006

I am game, but I am unsure if I would be able to get a day off of work. Keep me posted. _________________ 1997 K1100LT

Very interested--not so much for color (see enuf o' that crap here) but to attend an event since the Hungree Dungee trip fell threw.
Inaugural event and all.
More than enough time later to get my fill of bow season
Would appreciate an indoor floor at minimum. Agree w/ OTG--too old to sleep on the ground.
You supply food-- I will supply food $$.
Thanks for the idea.

A heads up, that is the same weekend for the Color in the Catskills rally in NY. I am unlikely to be able to attend. The new job only gives me one personal day a year, and I need to save it with two small children. Have a blast though! _________________ 1997 K1100LT

When I looked at the calendar I took a couple of things into consideration.
Foliage (peak is traditionally last w/e of Sept to first w/e of Oct)
Staying away from Columbus Day weekend (Oct. 10-12)
Plus HEAT (we get some very warm days in Sept) and COLD/FROST (can't count on NOT having white stuff on the ground later in Oct.)
So we got out the dartboard and ended up with the first w/e of Oct.
I don't know if anyone who is coming has made reservations. If it can be moved to the last w/e of Sept without screwing up someone else's plans- I have no problem with that. It might suit Saltcreek better or worse. _________________ John & Cathy

Sugar.
I'll attend the Hershey AACA Classic Car Meet in 7-11 october.
I'll arrive in New York in october, 5.
After great lobster, that I'm sure you will taste....you could go to see some great Packards and 1932 Fords...

Hi, Gui,
You've got time. Change your ticket and come up on 1 or 2 Oct. New Hampshire is not too far from New York (at least it's closer than El Paso). You could rent a car and come to Hungry Lobsta I, taste my spaghetti, eat a lobster, meet some of your internet friends in person, and then go to Hershey.
I know how important Hershey is to you. My uncle (died 2 months ago) was a Past President of the Society of Automotive Historians. I've never been there, but I've heard stories. As you said, you can see Packards and '32 Fords. Or you can buy virtually any part for them or for most any other make of ca rin the special interest, classic or veteran era. _________________ Ride Safe,

I think we're totally committed to that date, Dave. I welcome anyone headed to Sugar Hill to meet me at my farm (time to be determined) for a brief break and ride the last hour and a half or so together. _________________ Jim
