While riding up White Face Mt. in N.Y. at a slow and safe speed I developed a fork seal leak on my 97 K11. Fork gaiters may have prevented this by keeping dirt out of seals. What are the best to install after I rebuild the forks. _________________ pabel

Hi, PABel,
You can buy and use the gaiters which are used on the /6,/7 bikes if you have money to burn. You can use the Rancho #1952 if you don't. There is even an aftermarket to replace the Rancho. I bought them and am using them on all three of my K75's, but I don't remember either the brand or part number. I know I paid about $7.00 for the pair of boots. Genuine BMW boots (/6, /7) will run you $50 or more. _________________ Ride Safe,

I just picked up a pair for my /6 brand new from Capitol Cycles for $32 shipped for the pair. Not a bad deal. The part number is 31 42 1 234 908 _________________ 1997 K1100LT

Hi, John
Good to know. I just checked Max BMW's parts fiche. The fork boots are just over $25, unless you want the 13 rib boots, which are just over $40. The prices are EACH, so double them for cost of adding OEM BMW boots to your K-bike. Or buy them from Capital Cycle (are they genuine parts?) or buy Rancho 1952 boots. _________________ Ride Safe,

They are genuine BMW 11 rib fork gaiters. Which is what should be on my /6. _________________ 1997 K1100LT
