Shocked I've never seen a dual exhaust on a K bike before. Shocked

Very nice work, thanks for the teaser pic!

Do those pipes hit if you get leaned over?

Why is the front wheel on backwards?

I like the looks of that dual exhaust, even though looks odd being off center.

Good job so far there Larry.

Thanks for the props all, your input is welcome. ("Why is the front wheel on backwards?" 'Rolling Eyes'-well MOST input anyway...'Razz') Here are a few photos of the K1200 custom....getting close to completion, I am already starting to experience separation anxiety! Check out the Conti's. In the first post the pipes were hung but not fitted. I spun the motor this afternoon, the exhaust makes a cool thumping sound even without combustion. The intake is under development, Next step is to install the cooling system then I can fit the intake manifold. I am running the K1200 throttle bodies on the K1100 rail with the K1100 fuel pressure regulator. When finished most of the engine should be visible, it will certainly appear lighter.
I plan to add a Power Commander at some time and take this thing to a speed shop and tune it on a dyno.

The mufflers tuck in nicely, the center/side stand is shortened, and the suspension is lowered 1.5 inches. The body has not yet been fitted, when it is the gaps between the side covers, tank and tailpiece will be evened out. The three piece radiator shroud is yellow, and in harmony with the under tailpiece really helps to keep the red high on the bike, giving it a hot rod feel and the illusion of lightness. It should weigh in just over 500lbs I believe. Good power to weight ratio. If the spin over is any indication, the exhaust it should have quite an aggressive bark.

The headlight and dual gauge setup from the blue bike will be available for sale soon, as will several other bolt on's, including the three hole bucket on the 'Beast'. I am calling it 'The Romestant 3 hole'. If the intake assembly comes out as clean as I hope it will I may offer it as a bolt on as well. We'll see, it's still incubating in my head.

Like Opie said to Andy,"It's prayin' on my mind Pa".

Seeing the two models side by side makes me appreciate the styling differences. By next 49er I plan to have the dual exhaust setup on Carol's bike. I have the left hand muffler, I just need to fab up the crossover.

I'll keep you all posted on the progress.

Regards,

That's the model I can afford.

Larry, do you do your own painting and polishing? Everything sure looks great.

Bob,

The bodywork is painted by someone else. The fake Ohlins is a 412 series progressive shock, the customer wanted the spring yellow, not to emulate an Ohlins, it just appears that way.

Would this be to use K12 throttle bodies with a K11 airbox?

I might be interested
