has any one installed the dzus fastners www.dfcis.com
I work on the flight line and see them all over the Aircraft. i am thinking about using blasck one for the lower faring to quicken the oil changing process.

I think the black ones are plastic?
I cut the end off an old allen wrench, use it in the electric drill, 1 to 2 minutes I have the lower off. I still lay on the ground to get the 2 under the engine. I do those first. Leave the front left & right hang just a abit and are the last 2 I take all teh way out. Always though an old blanket on the floor to drop the lower onto, then wiggle it out.
Cool idea though. Let us know how it works out for you.

Hey, those look good (of course this year I replaced the stock lower fairing fasteners with Desmo stainless screws)
Any idea on which of those will work on a K1100? I do like the ones that don't need a tool.

My biggest issue with the fairing lowers is breaking the spring clip tread thingies. Seems like I have to replace at least 1 or two everytime I do an oil change. Strange part is they break when I remove the fairing, not from overtightening.

John,
I have never had that happen- either with the stock black bolts or with the new ss bolts, and don't recall anyone else mentioning it either. Is it possible that your clips are replacement parts?
These quick release fasteners might be a fix for that problem.
They might be on my to-do list for this winter.
